Dog poly door screen material with a bungee cord sewn into a the edge worked well with our stack setup.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Starting Battery Setups/Carts
« on: August 05, 2018, 06:40:28 PM »
Put a 12 volt battery in the car and use a block mounted starter. If its a MSD mag you might run a 16 volt battery. We use a Powernaster starter on 12 volts to start our 377 SBC w/6:71. We began with an external battery. Its a hassle unless you buy into the compact batteries.

I have DRE diapers on our SBC FED and our 1964 Mercury Comet SS/MA 289 CID. Great guy and product. I have been to his shop. http://www.enginediapers.com/

If we pull the engine we take it all . That is motor, midplate convertor ,transmission and the male side of the coupler. In the same way. Most of the wiring and cables run around the midplate in a notch on the starter side rather than thru it.

We are at 10.3:1 with our Iron SBC. A 4.133 X 3.48 engine. It has been plenty fast enough and very reliable.

Any dragstrip has many rear engine setups like yours. Especially with small and big block Chevys. That is where I would start. Super Comp setups are everywhere around here.

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Re: Zoomies vs collector headers
« on: October 19, 2017, 02:11:04 AM »
I've also tested zoomies and headers before.  There is no one single theory as there are so many contributing factors from car to car.  Headers came out marginally better for the engine I was running, but no amount of power increase would make me run them on a digger again, just looks plain wrong.

Totally agree on the looks. Collector headers on a front engine car ruin the look for me.

Yep, we have been running a MSD 12LT with a 2-step for years. Also an rpm switch for the shifter.

Spud Miller's Cave / Re: Fuel at cranking speed
« on: August 20, 2017, 05:22:19 AM »
I have never tried to check pump output at cranking speed bit I suspect the 12 volt system is too slow to pull the fuel up. I would route the pump output to a fuel jug and try to prime/start the engine to get some speed up and check its output .

Jon. How much is a pair of the Goodyear  D2585's delivered to 62563 or 62703 ? Thank you. George

I'm looking to try some on our SBC blower car. The Hoosiers usually work good but when track isn't great we struggle.

I would settle for a used set. Also will be at Indy/ US Nats on Saturday.
