Loctite 222 (low Strength) for cast aluminum.
Using a higher strength like 242 can result in damaged threads when you try to remove them !
242 is for Steel & S/S and Not recommended for Aluminum, as per tech sheet........ I learned the hard way !!!

Anodize then paint or PC. (No Primer)
Paint sticks to a freshly anodized surface like nobodies business, Then the non-painted surface is protected.
Ever handled a freshly anodized part, practically sticks to your hand ..... well so does the paint !
Not the least expensive but probably the best method. The Aerospace industry does this,
I process parts for them, that's how I know !

Do those have a ratchet action, dedient or side gate ?
In other words, How easy does it go into neutral after shifting into 2nd ? As in unintentionally like
A hurst quarter stick.

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Zoomies or not ?
« on: October 30, 2014, 05:17:01 PM »
My set-up is a 1240 # FED, 358 Chv 14.2:1 comp -8 Alum Hds Inj Alcohol.
Would like to run Zoomies but I know there is more to it than just bolting a set on.
Have done some research but really cannot find the whole story.
The big question .....
When are Zoomies better or equal to collector headers ?
What should be done to the engine set-up to properly run Zoomies ?
Is there a better cam profile for Zoomies ?

Obviously the cool factor is High ! But if it's a performance reduction for my set-up then I'm staying with collector headers (for now)

If only using a small battery for on-board power (not starting) is a Remote Cutoff Switch still required at the rear of the chassis ?

I just put this small Braille battery in my car. It weighs 17 lbs and has 722 cranking amps . My old battery weighed 38 lbs and was mounted further back in the chassis . I am hoping it will start the car with no assist

Very curious if this battery set-up worked out ?
I’m dealing with battery location issues, I don’t mind paying a lot for a battery and charging between rounds or even swapping batteries !
But very curious how well it cranks a high comp eng.
… Oh, BTW, Hello …… I’m New to FED.ORG
