Title: Custom bore piston rings
Post by: FEDNV on May 13, 2015, 01:27:27 PM
Anyone know of a company that can make custom size piston rings? Going with an odd bore on my rebuild and getting custom pistons made but can't find any off the shelf rings.
thanks
Scott

Call Akerly & Childs   talk to Roger
If you have to have custom made rings, make sure you order 3 sets

Bruce thanks for the reply, I will call them too.  Just got off the phone with bwepistonrings.com   His name is Bruce too and a really nice guy.

dont go all crazy with special ring types either, they dont do anything special that make them worth the price. I used a standard dura-moly ring package for years, just take your time with the gaps.

Perfect Circle supplies many of the other makers with the unusual stuff--call me if you can't get what you need I can drop ship from them --they have any ring you can think of

Thanks for the reply's.  My machinists wanted to go to 4.590 bore from my current 4.580.  For BBC this is not a common bore size as everyone goes to 4.600.  After talking to him again today it just seems financially better to just go to the 4.600 due to the amount of piston and rings available off the shelf compared to having custom pistons and rings made.
