Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Rear gear with a 3 speed

i would like to add  that it isn't always possible especially in 1/8 to the top of 2nd 3rd by changing trans gear first choice or tire size or rear gear than up shifting and going through lower rpm

if the motor is mounted solid and the trans also and the frame flexes the weakest part the trans case or bell housing will break!
in this case a FMX has a big cast iron case and a aluminum bell housing i'm not talking  about bolting the trans solid but bolting the stock insulator to the trans and letting it rest on mount supporting the weight

the car was 160" heavy 1700 lbs had a rad water pump and battery if the motor is built to turn 5-6-7-8 or 9000 rpm i like it to turn that rpm just before the finish in high gear

fmx is one big ass heavy trans you would be better off with a c4 just for parts and weight I would run a mount even if it's not bolted solid just to support do you have a mid-engine plate? it was common to run Cleveland heads on a Windsor around here both 2brl and 4brl versions they were used at the drags and oval tracks. sorry off track  a couple of years ago a guy was running an altered with a 351w
only saw him once he was having trans problems
any pics

try to meet with the track before the schedule is finalized so that you are included in any printed material
anything on line they can modify any time.
make a list of any questions you want to ask like the one about license and chassis cert.
you should post the track and date as soon as possible on this site and as many as possible and include face book
do everything possible for a successful event lots of work, been there done that
the best of luck!

FRENCHTOWN FLYER is right! For a good field you should widen your ET and might get some interesting entries
good luck , it's a lot of work and you can't count on other people only a small group will do most of it. start early as there will be delays getting things from the printers for flyers, posters, t-shirts and the art work if any. i use to sign a contract as what the track was committed to and what you are responsibilities and what your allowed( one track we were not allowed to sell t-shirts or pictures, verbal is some times not enough.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Throttle Linkage/Cable Help...Ideas??
« on: November 21, 2018, 04:37:01 PM »
The steering I would add a gusset and move the pitman shaft bearing closer to the arm I used a nylon block on top of the frame but you would have to mount it under or to the outside using something like a pillow block from a go-kart. as for the throttle  I have used cable from a mountain bike they have threaded ends so you can use female rod ends and are very flexible

might be easier finding a 8-71 there are always some for sale around here as the inboard hydro teams up-grade or replace equipment
but they won't be hi-helix as they aren't allowed. bought and sold equipment on racing junk
