Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / Powerglide Clutch Packs
« on: October 19, 2016, 06:19:31 AM »
Is there a limitation from a horsepower perspective for a 6 clutch pack / drum?  I've read that going to an 8 clutch pack can reduce the E.T.?  I see some manufacturers utilize a 7 clutch set up?  I'm contemplating upgrading to an aftermarket 1.80 gear set to replace the OEM 1.76, so I want to consider upgrading the clutch pack too.

thanks,

The pass after the lazy run resulted in a slow (slowest 60') car ever went....which was 1.19.  The weather was considerably better (693DA) which should have resulted in an even faster 60'.  Top speed seemed unaffected.

OK, makes sense...should I look for internal damage?  Because the car lost a tenth in the 60' (1.19) after 5 consecutive 1.09 passes prior to trying the delay box.  thanks Dan.

We used the delay box this past weekend for the first time during a time run...when I released the transbrake button the car left like it was in second gear...what is happening internally when the solenoid is lazy releasing?

Hey Dan,
Just installed a Dedenbear RTD-7 box and it makes the solenoid release appear "lazy"  once the entered delay time is reached?  With no delay the solenoid snaps in / out.

I went through this last year with my 423" SBC with 18* heads etc...ran great on dyno...would not run with the zoomies...14:1 comp and big cam...I put collector headers back on it...runs great.

Hi Bill...I added 35 lbs to the front this weekend and it seemed to really balance the car.  Where did you find this pic?  thanks John

I know I read somewhere on the site regarding slick temperatures post run...I've started doing it routinely as it relates to air pressures.  Post run my temperatures on the edges are 150F and 138F in the middle of my D2585 Goodyear.  Not sure if this means under-inflation?

Bill, car looks great...I see you have zoomies back!

John & Bruce thanks for the valued information.  I'm alos experimenting with nose weight and was amazed at how much 12lbs in front of the spindle C/L affected the attitude of the launch.
