Hi Dan....I have a friend that has a turbo 350 in a street car that is upshifting, under normal driving, way too soon.
What do we adjust?  Govenor springs or weights?
Thanks

Glenns problem is one cylinder...and I'm not sure which one.....is running hotter than the rest. That is verified by that plug showing heat all around the shell.  The rest are plenty safe. Even the hot cylinder is safe...It is just that that cylinder dictates the whole tune up.
If he was going to continue running this engine next year I would have him install one small nozzle in the cylinder.

car looks good. Spud will get you right in the ballpark!!!!
The only thing I can point out is the wing mount is not NHRA legal. It has to come off the roll cage. I moved mine to struts that mount to the rearend. It can be done...just need to be creative.

What are the butterflies set to?   If they are too tight...when you snap the throttle closed they might be cutting off air for just long enough to stall. open them up a few thou and try it....you will have to readjust the barrel valve.

Are the butterflys square in the hole.   Back off on blade shaft adjusters...loosen every blade and tap lightly with a small hammer handle or plastic screwdriver handle to seat the blade. you will hear it seat....do them all ....re tap each and tighten.
Is the idle bypass stuck???

When I ran the Mallory mag I could not get the tach to read correctly anywhere but at idle. It had a playback and after the run it said over 10,000 rpms! I knew that was wrong!  I tried the MSD mag converter box and when that didn't work I found a tach with the "loop" on the end of the signal wire....that didn't work either. Both set ups the idle was fine.
I have a rpm data recorder on the car and had to put a crank trigger on it just for the rpm recording. That works perfect.
If you don't have a data recorder...maybe the crank trigger could be made to work with the tach you have? 4 magnets on the degree wheel might give enough clean signal to make the tach work?
Anyone try this before???????

I'm running a MSD 20 now......same problem as the Mallory with the "loop" style tach pickuo wire.

If the pump is good......sounds like a poppet could be open...maybe stuck or broken/weak spring?

1/8" to 3/16"

No one has mentioned preheating the oil on the first startup for the day.
Easier on the pump....gets everywhere quicker.

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / 67 Chevy powerglide question
« on: January 26, 2017, 06:44:36 PM »
Hi Dan.....we are going to swap the powerglide out of a 67 Chevy wagon with a 307 2 barrel......with a turbo 350 from a 36 Chevy streetrod. It has a 350 4barrell. He thinks it has a aftermarket converter. So......before we get into this I would like to know if we can swap input shafts to keep the stock converter in the wagon?
Thanks !!!!
