Title: fORD 9" full floater
Post by: DNCMOTORS on November 26, 2018, 12:48:21 PM
Just looking for some basic advice to get started.  Having David Beard finishing my new 200" FED.  I choose a full floater 9" rearend, because I'm comfortable with them from dirt car racing.  Question: Aluminum or steel third member housing?  Do I install the plugs to keep the oil inside the center section?  Any good advice or lessons learned from full floaters?
Thanks

aluminum third member is fine and shaves about 20 lbs..Ran them for years in Top Alcohol cars. Get the bolt thru style and if me I would get the 3.875 bore. Make sure you can fit 9.5 gear in it as option later if want. If available get drilled axles, not sure they are for floaters .

Strange has a gun drilled option for their floater axles.
