Spud Miller's Cave / Re: Electric shift with Mag.

From what I am seeing the tach pulse generator will activate a shift light but is not strong enough to activate s shifter solenoid.
I'm not using the pulse generator for auto shifting but if I did, I would use a relay.

FIE, a sponsor here, makes a sensor that attaches to the Vertex mag cap and sends a signal to a tach pulse generator, https://fuelinjectionent.myshopify.com/collections/rpm-timing-related/products/tach-pulse-generator?variant=26288696208

Don't know what class you plan on running but check the rule book, in my class, that is not allowed hence the button on the steering wheel as stated by others.

I use the 18 ft chute cable, part# CC-PCTG-216, from GoodVibesRacing.com: http://www.goodvibesracing.com/cc_chute_cables.htm and it's mounted by my handbrake, I push chute lever forward then yank the handbrake.

When I did my NHRA licensing, first they inspected the car including chassis tag, safety equipment and general review, then I had to do the blind fold test, which is called the cockpit orientation test, fully suited and buckled in and you must exit the vehicle within 20 seconds, and from there do the prescribed passes as stated in the licensing form.

Also, 2 licensed drivers and a track official are required to sign-off for each pass made. Your full passes et's must be equal to or better than the minimum for class you are licensing for.

I made some stands using 1" square tubing I had laying around with locking wheels so I can move the car around and are stable enough to start the car on, below is a picture from a few years ago:

I made some stands from left over square tubing for the front and back that are on wheels so I can move the car around as needed and plenty strong enough to do all necessary maintenance and even fire the car up.

I'm no expert but looks to me that the wheelie bar is too low and too much air pressure

Before you buy, borrow and get in the car and see if you are comfortable.

I made the mistake of buying and first time I get in the car, I could not move my head at all due to the combination of helmet and head/neck restraint, ended buying different style helmet and shorter head/neck restraint.

It seems fewer and fewer manufacturers are offering re-webbing services. As Calkins states it is usually nearly as inexpensive to just buy a new set and sell the old stuff on the internet to somebody who doesn't care about dates (mud / rock crawlers, sports car racers, vintage racers, etc.). Some manufacturers will discount a new set if you send back your old stuff.
I just got my belts back from Impact and they always re-web completely, the only item reused is the buckle, here's a link to their restraining info: https://www.impactraceproducts.com/Articles.asp?ID=248, scroll down to the bottom to see the info on re-certing/re-webbing their belts.

Adios!

What does this mean?
We had a heated exchange when the new cage mount wing rule went into affect and let's just say that AMF starts with Adios!

The NHRA Competition License is divided into 2 types; Type A which is over 125" wheelbase and Type B which is up to 125" wheelbase so if the car that you're driving requires a Type A license then it's a dragster.

My only comment is make sure the TB button can't be hit by accident, I know racers that have that problem, sometimes when they get new/bigger gloves.
Draw 3D looks like if you warp your hands around the wheel you could accidently hit the button after you launch or have steer the car out of trouble.
Jon
Jon; my process is to pre-stage using the handbrake on the right side, where my fuel shut-off is mounted, and when I'm staged, I hit the transbrake with my left hand and let go of the handbrake and place my right hand on the steering wheel and use that to steer with, my left hand lightly holds the steering wheel. After I launch and make the low-to-hi shift is when I use both hands to steer but I have a safety-switch that only energizes the transbrake only low.

The only time I actually steer with my left hand is when backing up and when in hi gear, so far no issues with accidentally hitting the button.

Also, the picture is a bit misleading, the transbrake button is actually a bit below the steering wheel grips so the button is not in the way of holding the steering wheel.

You're going to need a master power switch as well. On mine, I tried various locations for my switches and ended up on the steering wheel so that I can access all in one place and easy to see.

Here's a picture of mine with the layout being top left (red button) is trans brake, top right (green button) is air shifter, bottom right is starter, middle is main power switch with light below it letting me when power is on and bottom left is mag switch.
