Spud Miller's Cave / ETC Rev Limiter Help needed!!
« on: July 04, 2016, 11:19:50 AM »
I have had this ETC Rev Limiter for 3 years now and it has yet to work right.  According to Hank it is picking up interference from the mag.  Seems the box could be shielded in some manor but I'm a mechanical eng. not a sparky.

I have Taylor spiral wires and have a separate battery supplying power, fuse box, grounded to the engine block and external coil.  Any help or tricks would be great.  Way too much $$$ into this and not have it work.

Front Engine Dragsters / trailer floor space
« on: September 22, 2014, 10:26:07 AM »
so here is the problem.  My Fed, daughters Jr and golf cart don't fit in the floor space of my 26 foot enclosed trailer (6.5 ft interior).  Yes I know buy a bigger trailer and that would be great, but not at this time.  I am looking for some good ideas on how to package the three items in the trailer.  Love to see some photos on how this can/is being done by others.

My first thoughts are to either lift the nose of the Fed or put the golf cart on a removable platform over the cars.

Front Engine Dragsters / Trans blanket
« on: March 04, 2014, 10:29:30 AM »
okay right or wrong I have a Powerglide with ultra bell with a stock center and tailshaft.  If I am reading the rules correctly I need either a shield or a blanket to go around the main body/planetary.  Correct?  so I bought a blanket based on packaging.  so I assume the straps go across the bottom but won't I have to be careful with it going over the shifter mechanism and holding heat in the trans?  Any pictures of one properly installed.  Thanks Davin

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / oil heater
« on: February 13, 2014, 08:44:14 AM »
what are the thoughts on an Oil heater on a wet sump system?  Or does a simple drive around the pits or on stands cover this?  only running a straight up alchol stack injection on a small chevy.

I was looking at a pad or better yet the immersion type.  I have also heard of a magnet style but can't locate.

Not planning to run wheelies, but if I find the need I would like to have the mounts on before painting.  would anyone share photos of what they have done.  I am looking at a 3 bar design the would have 2 bottom bars and 1 top bar.  I am concerned however if a bar were to break it would come through my back.  thoughts?

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Balancer spec
« on: February 06, 2014, 08:20:54 AM »
Looking through the NHRA spec and there is a requirement for the balancer to be SFI rated 18.1 mandatory.  So what happens If I don't have a balancer.  since my motor was in a sprint car it is setup with a KSE gear drive and the crank snout drove a water pump.  I am not running pump so I just blocked off the adapter and run it like that.  Will I have a problem with Tech on this.

quick question my hilborn injection tubes (stacks) are steel and I am thinking of having them chromed.  Thought is the chrome doesn't build like powder coat and should hold up well.  is there any concerns with the glare or something I am missing?  thank you.
