Spud Miller's Cave / fuel tank vent size
« on: February 05, 2019, 09:14:09 PM »
What is the proper size for a fuel tank vent when running alky with mech injection and a 1/2 pump, with a -10 line to the pump from the tank?  The tank is 4 gallons and mounted about 4 feet in front of the engine.  Also at the hit, is it possible for the fuel to slosh back due to g forces and close the rollover vent, thereby not allowing the tank to vent?  The rollover valve is mounted on the top rear of the tank.  Thanks.

Spud Miller's Cave / car lift
« on: May 15, 2018, 09:45:32 PM »
What do you guys use to get your car up off the shop floor so that you can work on it easier?  I've got a 4 post lift that I use and it works pretty well, but, since my altered is pretty narrow sometimes it's a pain to lean far enough in to work on the car on account of the ramps.  However it's great for work under the car as there are no cross bars in the way.  Does any company make a lift designed for narrow cars?

Spud Miller's Cave / M5 Temp gain?
« on: December 25, 2017, 06:39:07 PM »
When tuning with M5, how much water temp gain in a 1/8th mile run should you look for?  Do you use the same 10-15* gain that you use for M1?

Spud Miller's Cave / Enclosed body?
« on: July 02, 2017, 07:56:04 AM »
I have a 125in altered with a 421sbc with a enderle hat system. Best time so far 5.09@134.  From the front of the engine forward is completely open, with a laydown radiator, trans cooler, and alum 4 gal fuel tank in the very front.  My question, if I enclosed that and put a nose on the car, how much better et and mph could I expect?

Roo Man's Room / front spindle yoke
« on: June 26, 2017, 08:17:25 AM »
Hi guys.  I have a 125" Spitzer altered with the tripod front end.  I believe it has Anglia front spindles. The steering has recently got real stiff, so, I found that the front spindle yoke, where it mounts to the king pin, I'm not sure I'm calling these parts correctly, correct me if I'm wrong.  The yoke and the king pin are very hard to rotate with the tie rod removed and the tire off the floor.  How do you go about fixing this problem?  I've never had it apart, and bought the chassis as a roller.  I think the chassis was built in the mid 1980's.  It's got the steering shaft inside the top left side rail.

Spud Miller's Cave / injected sbc hard to start
« on: December 10, 2016, 08:34:58 AM »
I'm a newbie to this site, but, I have checked all posts and can't find anyone having the problem I'm having.  Here it is, I've got a 421 sbc injected alky altered.  After I shut it down in the staging lanes, then when restarting, it revs up to maybe 3000 rpm, then immediately slows down to about 3-400 rpm,  it just barely runs, then, it will come up on the pump and run fine.  I think that my idle check valve which is set to 2psi is maybe leaking fuel past it because it's at the very bottom of my tank which is at the bottom of my chassis.  Can anyone help me with this?
