Roo Man's Room / Re: Who can build a custom size axle?
« on: April 22, 2015, 03:04:43 AM »
I was looking at how FEDNV's axle is mounted. It looks like maybe 1/8" plate with 4 3/8's bolts. To me it looks like the plates would act as levers and place a lot of force on those bolts. Am I looking at it right? Would your new design address that?

I thought this was just a bracket car. Run what you have this year change cam over winter. I doubt it will be slow.

It sounds like the only thing that really changed was the tank. I would look there. Is there foam in the tank? If the returned fuel doesn't get to bottom of tank through the foam fast enough it could starve the pump. Is the tank vented properly? Is the inlet to pump restricted?

Do you have a torsion bar on the front? Maybe you could raise the front some.

Well we didn't make it to the March Meet. But I hope the weather is great for everyone that did.
I checked the Bang Shift website and didn't see where they were doing live coverage. Are they not doing video this year or did I just not look in the right place?

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Does anyone recognize this car?

Top gas would help explain the floater rear. But I'm not convinced its the same car. Honeoye Falls is not that far from where I'm at that would make sense. The more I look at that Top Gas car the more I'm convinced it's a different car. My car didn't have any bracket for the radius rods to the front axel. The rods bolted directly to the axle tube closer to the spindles. That chassis has a lot more angle in the lower rail by the front of the engine.

Front Engine Dragsters / Does anyone recognize this car?
« on: February 23, 2015, 03:09:26 AM »
I decided to get permission to post this picture of my car to see if anyone can come up with any history.
The photo is from a race at Cayuga Canada in the late 70's.
I also had to change my profile. The car is 10 years newer than I thought.

Spud Miller's Cave / Fuel Filter
« on: February 13, 2015, 05:22:54 PM »
Spud,
I could use a little filter education. This will be on an injected alcohol system with the tank up front. The filter will be the largest I can fit in between the tank and pump. I'm looking at filters with anything from a 40 micron to 100 micron screen. Is the 40 finer than the 100? Any thought as to what I should use. I know some don't like a filter before the pump but I bracket race and the fuel tank seems to be open all the time.
 Thanks BK

Spud Miller's Cave / Where to return fuel
« on: January 26, 2015, 07:25:48 PM »
If I run my return line on the top rail of my car it would need to rise up a couple inch's to go in the top of the tank. I'm thinking that's not good. It would still be lower than the pump and check valve.
I could put a bung in the back of the tank and keep the line pitched down all the way. The pump and check would be a few inch's above the top fuel level. But the return line would be below the fuel level most of the time.
The other choice would be to return it to the feed line to the pump.
Thoughts on the best scenario or other ideas.

Drag Racing / March Meet and Weather
« on: January 17, 2015, 12:54:06 AM »
Wife and I are considering going to the March Meet this year. I'm looking for some insite into what the weather tends to be like at that time of year. Also maybe where to or not to stay.

Spud Miller's Cave / Re: On board primer system
« on: January 11, 2015, 02:31:13 AM »
The only time I had trouble priming on alcohol was a cold engine below 50 deg. A little gas and it fired right up and used alcohol the rest of the day.

I disconnect them from any devices. Make sure there in a dry location. Fully charge them and they sit like that for months. I might recharge them once during the winter.
