Isnt .020 a little too much gap for a mag? Don't NGK plugs get hotter as the numbers drop? 5s and 6s sound like they would be too hot for a race motor.

The great thing about drag racing is that we have so many options for classes we race in . You don't have to put a big buck combination to race . I think that we all share a common bond in our love for front engine cars and I respect everyones opinion . I enjoy hearing about all of the builds on this forum The 2 most important things to me are to be safe and keep the fun factor high ! Bill

I'm not very good at leaving things alone. Anytime you want to add or subtract from the chassis. you need to grind the coating off then figure out how to make it look decent after that. If I started with a new chassis I would just use a rattle can and touch it up as needed. A PC chassis does look really nice when there done right just personal preference.

If your not sure of whats in the lower end you may not want to go over 6300. If you have stock rods and old bolts you could be looking for trouble. Going down the track slow is more fun than a face full of oil.

If this is a "race motor" why hydraulic lifters?  Make sure to check piston to valve clearance.

If it happens when its cold make sure the piston in the master cylinder is returning all the way back to the snap ring every time? If it happens when its warm after a run you could have air trapped in a caliper.

When I made the change on mine from zoomie to collector style. Performance was basically identical. It was late in the year so the reduction in et might have been the weather. Just a 100th or 2 quicker. The big difference was in the noise level. It was a lot quieter driving with the collector style. Also people didn't plug their ears during the burnout with the outlet down low.

top bulb here my spot any blink. Just want to catch first 1/4 of that blink everytime. If i do that dialing box in is easy. I have thought about clip on bliners for side of visor oppisite of the tree to cut down on things there.

Reason I have thought about this goes back to race we where at this spring,It was big money bracket race. While Lil brother was stagging a track personal pulled up to his right and gets out of golfcart outside of guardrail but still in his vision. He remained cool stopped, regrouped and drilled other guy .002 to .013.Who just happen to be one of the series golden boys.Might not have been intentional but sure looked funny.Yea hes the very com one in family, his big brother not so much.
It doesn't sound like you don't need blinders it sounds like you need to put your brother in the car!

After my chassis broke I use wood blocks under motor plate, tie the slicks down and just in front of the motor. No breakage since. I only ran 4.5# of air in the slicks and found the straps came off less at 6# and over. I think the idea is get the car attached to the trailer and let the trailer take the bumps.

That's a great offer Roo.  The history of our sport needs to be saved. I hope you can save the car.
And a generous offer

I had similar issue. But my car has a seat cover. I used a fairly dense foam and a sharp knife. Carved up some pieces to support my lower back. And tucked them behind the cover.

IMO you are pushing luck if running much boost at all.Gm block and crank with 12:1 and blower. If you feel big bump under butt it could be crank. Anything more than 8 or 10 lbs would worry me with that combo. I would go lower compression with good performance crank and rods. If using GM block I would have  to go to new splayed caps. May be over kill to some, but you are riding behind the engine.
Because of what I have to work with I was even thinking I would go to 10 lbs.
