Title: Oil temp
Post by: retroboy on July 02, 2019, 07:25:39 AM
Hello
Just wondering what temp your oil is? I have had some bearing issues and been using 20/50 oil and looking to go to a 10/40 and just thinking the engine oil may not have been hot enough?  I run methanol and no cooling so I was looking at putting a temperature probe in the remote oil filter adaptor.
Cheers

I use Brad Penn oil (50w) as it does not emulsify (mix) with the alc.  Run a test with a hand blender, put a qt (liter) in a pot and a touch of alc and mix. see how long it takes to separate, if it does not , theres your problem, you have weakened the oil

I run temp sensor in Pan,heads and outlet side of oil cooler. I run one gauge with 3 positon switches that allow me to read all separately with flip of a swtich or two. I use electric sensor not probe for this. Can compare temps in 3 seconds.

I run the Brad Penn oil as well and would highly recomend it ! If you are having bearing problems something else might be wrong !
