Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Re: no oil pressure
« on: July 21, 2017, 07:03:33 AM »
Thanks everyone, problem solved. motor oil was very slow since its 50w, also found some silicone that must have fallen thru one of the oiling holes from the valve cover gasket, after that, pulled the Mag and spun the pump over, had instant oil pressure ,Thanks again folks,Racers helping racers .Many heads are better than one.

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Changing over from injection too carburator
« on: February 27, 2017, 09:00:16 AM »
I have been recently forced with a decision to make , I've had to buy my racing partner out, the question i have is , I run a small block 406 ci Dart Little M motor with Dart 215 platinum iron eagle heads 208 and 160 ,with a edelbrock tunnel ram with a enderlee bug catcher on alcohol, the motor has only a few start ups too seat the rings and one burnout on it, it's basically a new piece .Now  since I have no longer a crew too help out, is it possible for me too change the top half of the motor as far as putting a carb set up on this without having too pull the whole motor apart changing the pistons and rings, without hurting what's already in place, I know that I will have too install a radiator and remove the 80a pump, is this a possible task  with out doing any risk too this 15k motor, I just want to go racing and have fun, but be competitive of somewhat ,or just start over with a different set up so I can do this by myself. Thanks for the help.

We have had this happen too us on numberous accounts , we have installed new baffels in fuel tank , once we do our burnout and get on the brakes, it seems like we get some type of air pocket through out the fuel system that allows the engine to die, making us look silly out their, we sure could use some help with this issue .we had Spud go through the pump and mag over the last season , motor runs great up till then .

Thanks Spud we will try that, have a great day,Pat.

Good afternoon Spud, Ray and i are having issues with our Autometer Sport Comp Tach, It works when you wing the motor , tach will tach up when reving the motor, it does not want to hola an idle, when motor is at idle the needle just sits around 500rpm only until you hit the throttle , hard to say where the motor is really at rpm wise, we checked all the wires and wired it to the diagram that came with our pulse generator , it seems to be all ok , wired to diagram, any sugestions that may help us, we have our last race this weekend at woodburn, weather permitting, Thanks Spud, Pat Johnson ,Tillamook.
