Post by: spookie on October 11, 2020, 01:46:00 PM
Getting ready to reinstall intake gasket on my sbc. Used permatex form a gasket on a fel-pro 1206 gasket, started to leak after first pass.Found form a gasket should not be used with alcohol!! What should I use? It may be intake and heads are not parallel, will check this week.If not parallel, what should I do?End rails get sealed with ultra gray. Thanks for any help.P.S. this a crower intake [old but flat].

I've been using Loctite 598 Black gasket maker on my blown alky SBC for years with no issues.

I found that the Felpro Printoseal gaskets fit best in the garbage can.

If your intake is not even with the head it will never seal right ! As far as gasket sealers go I would use the ultra black ! Never had an issue with it at all !

Check how tight the 1206 fits in there, if your heads were milled, and intake face is not correct you might check a 1266 which is double thick, if they are out of whack, the thick gasket will fail as well, but sometimes its enough to get them aligned and tightened up.
