Spud Miller's Cave / Mag Wires and Computers
« on: August 24, 2018, 08:14:13 AM »
Spud,
what do recommend for wires using mallory mag and front mounted Location for BBC and Computer? 7.0 pro alch.
They say my solid cores cause to much RF.
But I had issues with suppressor wire and Hoped up mag on nitro.
Maybe just the Coil wire?

Front Engine Dragsters / Elijha's Chariot update
« on: January 08, 2018, 07:53:21 AM »
So some of you know I took out the two speed and install 3spd B&J to help 60 times and keep engine in power band better.
I had a 56% two speed with a 4:30 gear and it had 1.22-1.26 60 times leaving at 5k-6k two disk pedal clutch.
so the B&J now is 1.92 low and 1.35 second.
So I started at same tune up for clutch and all well needless to say it shook hard first pass right from the starting line.  :o
So took 20 grams off to see if big change will help it ran 1.13 60 and 723@190  at 4k launch so much better little shake at top of low gear.
But it ate 20 thou off clutch so added 16back on it for third pass but injector line split at startup so we packed it up and headed home.
Next trip is Feb 16.

Race cars are so much fun!  :-\

Front Engine Dragsters / The testing of new rods
« on: April 18, 2017, 04:55:53 PM »
Man one thing I hate is the first burn out and run on new set of rods and pistons rings and bearings.
To many times at 800 ft 900 ft one thinks it wants to go back to the manufacture air mail.

But after 5 they understand they are to stay in side nice aluminum block and do their jobs.

At least these are only in an Blown Alcohol.

The Nitro motor well it has been calmer lately

Tucson Reunion here we come~

Spud Miller's Cave / Nitro % caculator
« on: December 20, 2016, 07:03:15 AM »
Hey Spud
On your site you have a Fuel calculator for % and temp  entires.

Do you a formula for entering  Specific Gravity and temp to get percentage?

Jim Hatley had a great one on the web and now his site is down looks like he may have left this earth.

So I enter 1.092 and temp of 67 result is **.* percent
Most fuel charts jump 7-8 on gravity and 2-4 degrees on temp
we run 82-92 percent depending on track and weather

Merry Christmas to All.

Front Engine Dragsters / Difference between 6.2 and 6.3 belhousings
« on: September 05, 2016, 07:43:28 AM »
Hello Everyone
Hope you having great Labor Day .

Anyone know what the  difference between 6.2 cert and 6.3 cert for belhousings ?

Is it the starter pocket for a 6.3?

7.0 pro Heritage rules stat 6.2. My car has 6.3 good till 6-17 so wanted to see if need new belhousing?
sure looked exactly the same as my 6.2 in AA/FA minus the starter pocket.
It is a Lakewood Manf. housing.

Front Engine Dragsters / Summer time racing
« on: May 06, 2016, 08:34:44 AM »
Well for most of the US Summer time is best racing if Mother stays  away.

For us here in AZ Summer means corrected ALT in 5-7K ft range. Man winter time is down in 1-3 K range.
Now for all of you headed to SLC in June fore the Heritage race I feel even worse for you.

We will be there with the AA/FA the week prior to the Heritage race. Last Aug we had 7200 Corrected ALT.
So we can up the compression and nitro % to get it run.

Now I was thinking about returning with my FED  but I just found out we are moving so that will change those plans.
I was shocked to see the Index impacts of SLC : 7:0 to 7:40  NE1 7:60 = 8:20 I think is what I read.

I am headed down to Tucson Sat to test more hopefully we get the 60 times down and engine to run to better potential than last time.

Good luck to all going to SLC and stay safe out there!

Front Engine Dragsters / The Fun of driving your fed
« on: March 20, 2016, 08:02:38 PM »
Ok guys I had a blast this weekend we put 5 laps on the car  I ran best now of the  7:98 @ 177  and can apply for my Et license and try to get car to run harder on bottom. For advanced ET.
My best 60 was only 1.29 so we need some more HP never even saw any cad off plugs or above 7500 rpm so more work for me.
It has two disk pedal clutch  and 4:30 rear gear 33x15 tire 56% lenco.
so we got some work to do but this was my first FED and it was a blast to drive it.

Also has any one tried running the stroud chutes will out the bag??
I found both mine laying on the wheel Bar with two passes at 170 +
So for last two I installed an older simpson we had in trailer it worked 2 passes. one stroud layed on bars :-( maybe pilot chutes??
So it not the packer of chute :-)
