Roo Man's Room / engine height change effect
« on: April 29, 2013, 07:10:56 PM »
Wondering how much effect 1.25 inches lower engine will effect chassis handling. Im getting ready to remake rearend  mounting plates. To move rearend back 2". Thinking I could drop it 1.25 inches to allow me to lower engine the same amount. Reworking rear motorplat easy and remaking front motor mount is far from big deal. Little work but if it will help some it would be worth it.

Reason for it is to get motor 2" more out from rear and figureing that while Im doing it i might as well get everything possible.

Roo Man's Room / Ideas on travel limiter for slipjoint
« on: April 29, 2013, 07:32:12 AM »
Looking for pics or ideas on limiting the travel for slip joints in my chassis. I have two one in front of motor and one abour 3' behind front axle. When jacking car at motor it archs 4" and has 1/2 at motor and about 3/4" at front end(probably not going to use much. I added battery and weight to equal run weight.

Looking to build best mouse trap(always).Any pics or ideas on limiters would be welcomed.Always searching for ideas,I might not use them but like to see them and work from there.

                                                                         Thanks Guys

Spud Miller's Cave / alky nitrous question for spud
« on: April 07, 2013, 09:22:23 PM »
I have been working on this idea and running numbers only so far.Working on flow bench to get better base.

Heres what i want to do.

I will have injection system using enderle pump.

Instead of one main bypass I will have two equal to flow of one in regular system.

using the smaller jet which would match need of fuel for nitrous
Close one solenoid thats directed to tank and opening a solenoid upT-d in up stream thats directed to fuel side of nitrous. This would give me my fuel needs without a electric pump.

Getting exact flow number will of coarse require flow bench work and knowing working pressures, which I am working on. I have the speed drive for pump and now setting up gauges for pressure readings in variuos points. Getting readings for flow is something I have not found gauge for. Not looking to by complete computerized system. Can do a lot of math but would rather have direct readout of flow.

Any thoughts on why will not work or how to better do this would be appreciated. Also any leads on direct flow reading gauge would be nice too. I know kind of cuts into your business and understand if reluctent to give out details.

Roo Man's Room / short or full body
« on: April 01, 2013, 03:38:54 PM »
Im thinking of building both short and full body for my FED. I love the look of the full body and car is mostly bracket deal. But alos think the bare bones basic of short body look like Im here to be fast and thats it  is pretty cool too. Besides the short boddy can't use more than sheet and half of aluminum if that much.

Which body do you prefer and why?

Anyone know average differance in full body with para chute body.para chute short body and the bare minumin short body.  Thinking about doing at least two of them the full(love the look) and either short or short with chute back. I could probably measure figure amount of alluminum and do math but to xxxx lazy.

Need to know what most have in lower frame for diagonals. Ive seen some that have nothing and wondering how mcuh they effect how chassis works. If I do install them Im thinking 3/4" should be more than strong enough,  Maybe Roo Man can chime in.

Wondering what lenght wheelie bar most are running. While I might not need them Im building a set for car and may remove after getting it dialed in. Besides I like having them in case of. Im thinking of going with 6' single wheel setup.Running two bars up and one at bottom . Thinking of going 1.125  tubing( I have two pieces that will work and only buy one 6' piece) .Any thoughts on size or length are welcomed,

Roo Man's Room / Roo MAn question well 2
« on: February 08, 2013, 01:43:03 PM »
First on  bottom diaganols for  front. Do you do them for all of front or how much.My car more the modern TF style frame taller and wider than period correct.

Second any rule of thumb on plates for steering rod as to max distance for middle(3 piece) .The way my chassis is setup  with floating top tube for slipjoint I would like to mount to sleeves for diaganol. Hope thats under standable.

Roo Man's Room / engine height
« on: February 06, 2013, 06:08:00 PM »
Wondering what most have for engine hieght. Chassis groung clearance would be nice also. I have mine set at 6.5" at rear axle, thats ground clearance. Enigne is  9" at front of crank and just under 9.75 at rear of engine ,this is from bottom rail. Thinking about changing rear to same as front. Front can only go down oil pump is almsot hitting frame now.  I have engine 50" out wanted 52 but when I first went to move out I had parts of frame already don that limited amount I could move it. Parks was very explicit about getting it out to 52".

Roo Man's Room / slip joint fed
« on: February 02, 2013, 02:53:07 AM »
Anyone on site running FED with slipjoint chassis I would love to get aosme info.

Im build 225" fed that at presetn is setup with tow slip joint sctions. One in fornt of motor. one about 2 feet behing front axle centerline.  Both are setup to be slip joint or quick bolt makes them rigid.Top tubes are sleaved at diaganols/upright(20*). Joint infront of motor also has bottom rail bolted in.I can pull 2 or 4 bolts disconnect fuel lines pull 1 bolt from steering and have car in 2 peices.Garage onlt 22' deep car has to go corner to corner. This little feature allows me to store and work on car easier, plus I figured out how to make it into altered with just another front clip or for about cpl hundered bucks I can have shorter fed if wanted(why i would I don't know).
I have cpl pics in fed section of where Im at and yes donations will be accepted.
