Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Welding machine

I find it easier to tack with the mig (especially working by self with only one free hand), when you start to tig you can just grind of mig weld. Tig welding takes practice and is difficult when tacking due to needing both hands. If you dont plan on finish welding or may not use tig in future save your money. But I have both tig and mig ( I am a total ameture at both) and I love the tig - excellent for fabricating small alloy parts etc and can be very rewarding when you get it right. Glen

Wanted to buy / Wanted 392 hemi roller cam
« on: September 09, 2015, 09:00:21 PM »
I am after a solid roller cam to suit methanol injected 671 blown 392 powered topolino altered. I would prefer a moderate profile eg. rev range between 3500 rpm - 7500 rpm. I need this item posted to Australia, whats out there?  Glen   draper-racing@hotmail.com

There will be no internal floor on this car, gearbox will be exposed. Full JW powerglide unit, I am thinking that the tech inspectors will require a sealed type floor - hence cover over pan. My thinking about full length belly pan  is to catch any leaking fluids from going on track or tyres or having car shut down. Im talking minor leaks not major ones obviously. Cooling issues could be overcome if required. This is my first race car ( only ever had street cars years ago, about 12 sec) so all advice greatly appreciated.  Glen

Modified floor pan for altered today to suit deep pan of powerglide. I was thinking of making a full length floor pan to catch any fluids from engine / fuel tank etc. What do others think / currently use. My current floor runs from rear of engine back. Glen

My name is Glen and I am from melbourne Australia, here are a few pic's of my unfinshed ride. It's a 105 inch moly tube Topolino altered powered by a blown / injected 392 hemi, powerglide, floater 9 inch rear. Started project with a rolling 125 inch mark Williams chassis ( was injected small block 9 sec car ). All mods / fabrication done by myself in home shed, project is about 12 months away from testing - should be mid 7 sec ride if all goes well, hope you like. Glen
