I would think that 3 inches would be a good starting point ! Some one like Roo Man or Bruce could give you a better advice ! I wouldn't get too crazy on engine set back ! It will make it harder for you to get the car down the track with the motor that far back ! Mine is out 36 inches and I have been able to make it work for me ! the 3 most important things I have learned are 1 The right tire 2 The right air pressure and a nicely designed wheelie bar will get you from A to B !

Chris From what I have found using a small amount of nitro is to keep everything the same as far as converter and gearing ! I tried a tighter converter thinking the extra torque would help and it was slower !

If your intake is not even with the head it will never seal right ! As far as gasket sealers go I would use the ultra black ! Never had an issue with it at all !

Chris I tried lowering mine about 400 rpm and saw nothing ! Normally shift it at 9200 !

I think the 1.80 will only make it worse ! A better change would be a higher rear gear like a 3.90 and a lower tire pressure like 6 lbs or even 5 1/2 would be ok and start with your bar at about 3 inches off the ground ! Your wheelie bar is your friend and you can control wheel speed with it ! You could lower your launch a little too !

I would think if the tansbrake didn't release the car would  not move at all ! I f you can't find anything wrong put a pressure gauge on the reverse port and that should tell you what's going on !

Chris sounds like the reverse clutch not releasing all the way ! Could the piston be hanging up in the bore ? How much clearance ? It should be about .085 ! Not sure if the linkage could cause that but you could test it on the jack stands with a pressure gauge ! Another thought did you put rubber pieces between your steels in reverse ? They don't fit very well in a powerglide case and can fall out and jam up the reverse plates !

Very difficult to take .001 off of a crank and have it stay round and if the crank is nitrated it will remove that as well . I would suggest you take your rods and crank to the machine shop and have them check the clearance with a dial bore gauge ! You can change the clearance with an EX bearing and if that gives you too much clearance you can mix an EX with STD halves to get the proper clearance !
