Front Engine Dragsters / FED front spindles
« on: March 22, 2018, 05:56:54 AM »
I want to  replace my front spindles and want some recommendations from all of you. What are you running or what would you like to be running for front spindles? No aluminum as I need the weight in the front so steel is preferred.
Thanks for your input!

I kept it simple with the McKinney adjuster and did the 3 bar, no brace, 72" long bars.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Transmission shield
« on: September 09, 2017, 03:06:06 PM »
I have the CSR shield and yes it too has to be re-certified periodically. Its work to make it fit but you fit the case to the shield, not the shield to the case. If you are using cooler lines it is more work as the hole for the cooler fittings is super small. Otherwise its light, does not have clearance issues and costs tons less than the heavier aftermarket cases.  I believe I will keep it around even after buying the Reid case!

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: cooling question
« on: May 14, 2017, 06:19:48 AM »
Similar to a road vehicles cooling system the only way to keep air out (once purged) is to make sure that there is a "recovery tank" with fluid in it. This way when the engine cools and the fluid contracts it will pull fluid from the recovery tank into the engine and not air from somewhere else. Otherwise you will have to purge every expansion/cooling cycle.

Tow Vehicles / Re: Tools kept in the tailer
« on: January 09, 2017, 03:05:37 PM »
I will need to buy a bigger trailer than I originally planned to! Thanks for all the suggestions and things I did NOT think of.  Like Dave if something significant becomes and issue I will load up and enjoy the evening. I rather work 10 hours in the shop than 1 hr at the track. Just too old for that anymore and this is supposed to be fun ;D

Tow Vehicles / Tools kept in the tailer

Quick question for those of you who do not travel long distances to race or race at 2/3 days events far from home. "What tools do you take with you (or keep) in your trailer?"  Are they from your collection at your race shop (garage) or did you buy them special for the racing operation? What are the must have's and what are the least used of the tools you keep in your trailer? Thanks!

Run an aluminum KEVKO pan from Fairmont, MN. Small shop building nice pans at a great price!

I would have never thought that carbs are that sensitive to issues past the intake valve but I guess it makes sense. When the intake valve is open its all one signal to the carb. Wow!
