The Hendricks Ford six cylinder from Virden Illinois is a runner. Last time I saw the car was in Bowling Green Kentucky 2011 ? He was running low 8s in the 1/4 .

I have not weighed the larger overflow tank and the added lines and fittings . I expect it has added about 10 pounds.Plus the 2 gallons of water. The system does not circulate to a tank. The tank is for overflow only. It has about one gallon capacity and serves to capture both coolant overflow and discharge from the vacuum pump.

An aluminum radiator, electric fan and pump might weigh less than 100# with coolant. If you are bracket racing this might be the way to go with gasoline.

I would contact the convertor builder.

Yes.

I have built a system based on alky as a fuel. I will know if the system works as designed very soon. I doubt what I have built could be applied to a gasoline engine. The two fuels are much different in system operating temperatures.

Thank you sir! :)

No expert here but I have used a friends electronic scales on all four corners on our FED. Moving weight around makes a difference . We put the Optima battery inside the nose piece ( in front of the wheels).

Find a set of Goodyear 2585s. Lightweight grow tire. 12 x 31 x 15. It is much lighter than any other tire in this size. The majority of class legal JR Fuel cars run them.

I expect the EMT is galvanized. I know there are hazards welding the stuff. Also doubt if it will take the heat especially at the bends.

Thanks , I'm closing in on a design. George

Hi George I use a pump and a small tank about two quarts but I hardly ever use the pump . I think you should be just fine with water in the block . If you tow it back from a run I doubt you will ever have to drain it.

Hello Bill, I have lots of options to make coolant connections. How do you have yours setup. What is the tank height. I was thinking of tying the lowest point on the block into the tank ( both sides) and doing the same to the two highest points ( top of intake manifold , front , each side.

I'm looking for pictures and/or system designs of proven applications on a SBC. I would like to run with the block and heads full of coolant and exchange only when the engine is too hot. I don't expect I will need to dump all the coolant after an 1/8 mile pass. I'm running a Hilborn 327B manifold.

Thanks. George

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Re: Spark Plug indexing

I don't think so George. Everybody is probably busy indexing plugs and playing with engine temperature! If you do decide to run your deal hotter, keep in mind that eventually you will probably need to adjust your fuel system to optimize.

Yea!

I am working on installing a freeze plug heater on each side. The design of coolant flow and return is a question as I don't want a pump and prefer an expansion tank with little or no overflow. Any proven designs out there for a SBC? Thanks.
