Hotrodhoodlum: Central Illinois Dragway in Havana Illinois has a nostalgia race twice a year. You would be welcome to run with the NQSA. We run four races a year. 4.99 is the slowest dial . No delay box. Contact me with a PM if you are interested.

Two of the group I run with are blown SBC. They both claim to make about 1200 hp. I am making 640 injected. I was told they started with 6-71s and went to 8-71s with better manifolds and really didn't see much difference. A 300hp goal should be an easy one to attain.

How slow is slow enough?

NHRA rulebook 4:11 under roll cage heading says 9.99 or 135mph or faster

Thanks Tyler.

I am racing a FED with a current 6.0 certification. It was built to SFI 2.2B . Now a 2.4C. It might meet the 2.2C spec. but I'm real sure we won't be running in the 5s.

As I read some of the chassis being built or modified, I don't see a reference to a SFI spec. or possibly another standard. Am I mistaken or are there a good percentage of builds that never get inspected? Is it only sanction tracks that require a current chassis cert. ? I would think even a non-sanctioned contest should have to meet some requirement for insurance reasons. Just curious. George

Several of us are going but were not taking a car. Probably hang with the Walden group.

We improved our 355 cid SBC last year from 11.6:1 to 13.4:1 . With a new custom cam , some intake port work and a complete race rebuild gained 40 hp.

We haven't seen a great deal of on track improvement yet. We ran a 5.10 et @ 136 Friday.

My advice is to build a 400+ cid engine. You don't have to get wild to make 600 hp on injected alky.

Friday's Test and tune resulted in our car running a best of 1.10 60' 5.10 et @ 136 mph.

We got invited to a match race at Cameron MO. next Saturday. Three runs with the blower cars.  ;D ;D ;D

I played with some M5 late last year and it didn't show any improvement over my " cheap stuff".
