Title: Offset Drive
Post by: Scuzme on July 07, 2018, 06:03:44 PM
Hi there, I am fitting an 8/71 Blower to our sbc. I need to use an offset drive for the Mag. The mag we are running is an MSD promag lt12. I was thinking along the lines of a 3” Dunn. The problem is they have a cross drive and the Mag has a square drive with a magnetic chopper below it. Does anyone know if there are adaptors available or any other ways of adapting the mag to the drive.] (ftp://[url)

Does the LT12 have a band clamp mount? If so any of the SBC/BBC offset drives should work as far as the cross drive goes you can buy a cross drive to install on your mag.  Spud sales the aluminum cross driver so you can buy it from him.

Hi Paul, these pics might help to see my problem.

Thanks for the pics and yes it does clear things up. That is not a band clamp mount and I am not sure if there is an adapter to mount this to any of the available offset drives.  I would call Spud Monday and talk to them.

It does have a clamp as can be seen in the background. I think the easiest way would be to make a new shaft for the offset drive and mount the chopper and square drive on that. I will give Spud a ring tho just to make sure there is nothing available first. Thanks anyway.
