Spud Miller's Cave / Blower pulley
« on: May 23, 2016, 11:33:08 AM »
I'm running a 331 Chrysler hemi in my falcon. I have a 6-71 blower and 4 port Hilborn.  This will be a street driven car most of the time.  Question is what size pulleys to use?? Plus what pitch to use.

Thanks

Roo Man's Room / Don't use muriatic acid
« on: March 29, 2016, 06:23:22 PM »
This is what happened when I used it in my garage when it was raining outside. I used it to remove rust in my rear end housing. When I poured it in it started smoking like crazy so I opened the garage door and turned on my huge fan to blow out the fumes. I finally emptied the acid and washed out the housing. The rear end had the outside just sand blasted. The next morning it was brown and had to have it reblasted. Yesterday I noticed my new headers were rusted. Not to happy.

Should I mount my 331 hemi with solid mounts or use a rubber mount like the speedway set up??

Thanks

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / Is this PG worth selling
« on: January 07, 2015, 08:51:06 AM »
This power glide came with my dragster. Is it worth putting up for sale. It hasn't been used since 1979. This is what the guy who had it built said about it.

Hi Jeff, well it has been a minute or two, but I have a good memory.  case is from 62 Chevy II 4 cylinder.  Hub is from a 61or2 Corvette and has 8 clutches I think,  valve body by A1 Automatic in Van Nuys-"Marvin 2-speed" Ripes.  Probably passed on by now.  Trans brakes had not been invented yet.  The torque converter is not a racing unit, makes an excellent paperweight.  And as you are probably aware, the 'glide is so simple that is really all there is to tell.  Low-high shift was so hard and fast it spun the slicks.

Thanks
Jeff

What one should I use in my 1966 Woody dragster? A 741 742 or 846 for that era.

Thanks
Jeff
