I use an old propane tank welded to an old flexplate so it doesn't fall over and strap a Moroso heat pad on. Does not work with nitro because the boiling point, I just let it settle a few weeks and drain off the bottom quart or so until clear. The attached picture shows what happens to the different fuels and mixes. The 3 VR1 samples were shaken vigorously and allowed to settle, the Brad Penn 40% was used in my engine with 3 passes on it. Looks very similar to the 45% sample.

The hotter plug will nip the ground strap and warn you before you get to aluminum if your lean. 33% is where things change. I can't speak to your compression ratio/cam combo but my BBC @ 12.4 was the same jet/timing with 30% as straight methanol. It started to slow down as I added %. converter becomes more critical.
Welcome to the addiction.

I machine a groove in the shift shaft for an o-ring and use the seal also.

Yes, injected nitro and 12.23:1 compression

Is it washing the oil off the piston and walls?

What is causing the etching at the top of the cylinder and the small scratches? Are they related? This is a 505 BBC on 45% Nitro. After 3 passes cylinder leakage was 8%, after 17 passes it ranged from 14% to 28% with no oil on the plugs but down on power. All eight cylinders/pistons and rings look the same and the top ring is very worn but the second looks great. The ring ends have not been butting and there is no signs of detonation on the piston, spark plugs nor the top rod bearings.
Thanks

Intake valve closing point is important in compression consideration. I add a quart of toluene to a 5 gallon mix of 30 to 45% but add it after I've got the % I want. The toluene has a specific gravity of .870 or so at 60 degrees and can skew the true % probably not an issue but??  Spud's Nitro Notes are a very good resource.

Spud,
What is a good full face respirator that will filter nitro/toluene fumes?
Thanks

Paul,
Are your numbers too tight or too loose?

The FIE web site also, Spud has a very user friendly Compression calculator. Think it bumps it a little over 1 point @ 58cc.

I use an Oberg, easy to inspect, access and clean. NA injected alcohol/nitro

Are your front oil gallery plugs in, the ones behind the cam gear? Mark IV block?

It is a nitro thing, I'm injected BBC nitro and pull the plugs after a pass, crank it over for 10 seconds, check the valves then crank it over for 5 seconds and put the plugs back in, I believe the process is different for a Hemi. I have seen the results of not clearing them, I don't want my equipment broken and more importantly no one hurt.

.3 seconds approximately and 40% an additional .2

What you are running is very close to my combo only mine is BBC and 1 point less compression. I have run 2 different BBC combos and a 30% load tuneup has been the same as my straight methanol tuneups, 40% changes big time. It is fun!
