It doesn't matter how many motors I've built i always get butterflys when I first start them. there has only been two that something happened on start-up cams shaft turned into broomsticks and it was when they removed the zinc out of the oil and no one was aware of it. I blamed comp cams they asked me questions even the type of oil and every thing was good , I called another cam company and they told me about the change in oils.
nice looking motor

Always make sure your belts are tight, I've seen people hurt when they flipped and belts were not tight enough.you should set-up your cockpit with all your safety equipment on, street clothes are not the same!

For the most part when dew falls the track gets slick we were running 10wx33x15 it would affect us more than the  heavier door cars.
have you posted any pic's of your car?

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Thoughts on dynoing engine
« on: August 09, 2022, 08:51:11 PM »
We dyno about 1/3 of the motors to try different things oil, headers, carbs spacers, fuel, etc to run out frt and stay there,we also dynoed motors bought from different engine builders to compare with ours because we didn't use the same components.and to make sure things worked even had a high end blower sieze on the dyno. it's all just a reference because different operater, dyno will give different results
it gives you a base line about timing, fuel curve

The ratio  is no biggie you can change the lenght  of the steering arms to speed up or slow down  and will make heavy or light to steer

I've used polycarbonate LEXAN brand on my late model for the wing bent it in a brake drilled it never cracked also window wings on a cobra kit car cut on a band saw drilled for brackets it's not the same stuff as plexiglass which will crack and break but people have heated it to form and use washers when screwing it in place

Drag Racing / Re: battery mounting?
« on: June 14, 2022, 01:37:39 PM »
If you can run an Alt. have seen too many people not make the call because of dead batteries including myself. it doesn't have to be mounted on the motor and rotation doesn't matter but RPM does keep it under driven.

We all think when we start a project that we will make due with what we have or can source cheaply but like what was stated we have to up grade and have a good reason like I have a set of pistons but they are too heavy and that would be hard on the rods didn't matter that the were in a motor the set a NHRA class record so I bought super light weight pistons and lighter rods as the old ones had too many runs
any reason to justify what i was doing same thing for the heads the only things I didn't change was the block and the camshaft we all want better(faster)
