Front Engine Dragsters / My old Ride
« on: July 27, 2019, 05:29:28 PM »
This is my first serious race car in it various incarnations.
* How I purchased it - Yellow & White. The engine is a 186ci Holden Red, baby brother to the 262 chev
* Before I raced it we painted it Blue on Blue
* It was then done in Metal Flake Blue with Triple SU carbs
* Now fitted with fuel injection
* The engine was then changed to a 250ci crossflow Ford and the whole car stripped down, sandblasted and repainted in Ford Bronze & Gold. Fuel Injection off the Holden engine was used on this engine.
Sadly sold not long after but it is still active more than 25 years later.

I have got to give a massive "Thank You" to the car owners Joe & Jim and my sister in law Jane for making this dream a reality. 8) ;D :'(
Behind the car is John, brother of Joe & Jim the team shirt he is wearing says "Never underestimate an Old Man with a Mopar"

Spud Miller's Cave / Re: fuel tank to fuel pump elevation

I hope someone has a solution as we are having the same issues. We have discussed but not yet tried these idea's - a check valve, primer pump and raising the tank. Look forward to hearing the feedback.

Engine is a cast block 392 with cast 392 heads and stack injection still very rich. Back to the track tomorrow for Mopar Sunday.  ;D

« on: April 15, 2019, 06:08:49 AM »
Hi Spud, I know there are many variable but what approximate fuel pressure should we expect to see at idle.
392 Hemi, 6.5 GPM Hilborn pump, .034 nozzles, .125 Main with 22% leak down
Calculator shows around 110 psi at 8000 rpm.

I think most everyone has a legitimate point in this thread but, sorry Noslin,  I lean toward the bottles should not be that exposed. Even when legally mounted look what happened just this past weekend at the Gators.

I would say the program is compensating for an out of whack inlet to exhaust ratio. By increasing the inlet a more favourable ratio is achieved and therefore you see increased HP.
