Man one thing I hate is the first burn out and run on new set of rods and pistons rings and bearings.
To many times at 800 ft 900 ft one thinks it wants to go back to the manufacture air mail.

But after 5 they understand they are to stay in side nice aluminum block and do their jobs.

At least these are only in an Blown Alcohol.

The Nitro motor well it has been calmer lately

Tucson Reunion here we come~

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: What to look for when buying a used chassis...
« on: February 05, 2017, 09:01:22 PM »
John
Most likely you should buy a known builder if possible

if you have ever seen how powder coating hides cracksvery well.
most 6:00 cars will not be powder coated if it is walk away.
Strip it down to bear metal look over every weld after you buy it. Every hiem joint should be replaced with high Quality ones no grease zirts  new washers, all bolts and washers with grade 8 new ones nice new washers new nylons nuts. Unless you safety wire each one.

pull each king pin check for wobble.
new front tires if you can
The Chassis inspectors I dealt with are very good the will find small tubes thin tubes need for Kidney  bars.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Seat Belt Help
« on: January 02, 2017, 08:22:08 AM »
As Bruce said get crew to help someone you or crew can feed belt through the adjuster push on the belt  at adjuster to feed it through.
Usually I get the guy on opposite side to pull while  I feed it we even use a tie down strap through the loop to help them pull the belt tight
this for the lap belts only. My Dragster tires are in the way so the tie down strap makes it easier.
In the FA I feed and tighten at the same time for Driver is larger and his arms are in the way  ::)! right Mike? I also use the opposite side rule as I can get much tighter this way.

Spud Miller's Cave / Nitro % caculator
« on: December 20, 2016, 07:03:15 AM »
Hey Spud
On your site you have a Fuel calculator for % and temp  entires.

Do you a formula for entering  Specific Gravity and temp to get percentage?

Jim Hatley had a great one on the web and now his site is down looks like he may have left this earth.

So I enter 1.092 and temp of 67 result is **.* percent
Most fuel charts jump 7-8 on gravity and 2-4 degrees on temp
we run 82-92 percent depending on track and weather

Merry Christmas to All.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Where is everyone
« on: December 18, 2016, 06:50:27 PM »
well I have been trying to get two Adv et passes in for 2017 7.0 pro season.
so far much better 1/8 mile passes due to wind.
and then saturday it pulled 3 power wheelies off line and shook at Wild Horse Pass so man now I may need to run NE1 Jan 14

no more test and tunes this year
maybe I can find private test and tunes at Tucson  seem to have better traction there
any way Merry Christmas to all may all your Car parts be nader your tree
