Got the plug for the nose piece done today, well almost some samding left.

Right after cutting a perfectly good plug up.already pulled mold of this one.

Almost finshed and hopefully what the finished piece will look like. Got to get some gel coat before making mold.Going to make 2 at least.I like a spare everything and second one cost me a bout 30 bucks in materail so might as well do it now, while shop is freaking mess.

Not sure I like the depth of the V groove,;ittle deep?

Dave,

I have been thinking on the top cowl part. Was thinking a hinged piece where you see the deflector in from of engine. I am the type whos always working on engine and with pump mounted low with belt drive and poppet or two  at the shut off I will have to have fairly quick access to that area.

I've been up in the air on wing few times, but I like the look.My first design way back had a wing but was more laid back mounted low and was up and back from cockpit. I hat low wings they hurt when you ram your head into spill plates.Yea been there cpl times.

Roo Man's Room / ground effects what counts
« on: July 05, 2013, 09:35:36 AM »
Going to be doing sheetmetal part of body soon(HOPEFULLY) does the little rolled lip at bottom consitute ground effects. Would like to have it. problem most nostalgia class' have a no ground effects rule.

Car will be mostly brackets, but don't want to have to chnage if i want to run some class that has rule against it.One goal of this car is to make it capable of running as many class' as possible with a few changes as possible. Engine and safety stuff another story. Chassis is built to meet 2.2c so chassis should be good for anything and little over kill on most. Heck when the idoit at lottery pulls the right numbers  the one I have.  I may be able to play with top fuel new and old style.

Glen,

Have no idea. I posted something on another site and a guy sent me the picture that a english guy did but never built it.Well thats the story I got anyway. Like I said since it was very very close to mine except his art work lot better I kept it and yes stole a idea or two to add to my car when its done.

I should have some nose piece pics by weekend.Im pulling mold off plug in hour or so. Im making two molds one with V groove and one w/o it. Figure only about 20 bucks to have both molds.

I cheated. Its not Mine but had 90% of stuff I drew on first sketch 7 years ago. I can draw side and top view fairly well the 3 d deal not so much plus my engine details sucks. I have to use ruler to get decent piture.I see it in head but hand doesn't do what i see. Heck when making something on mill I can make it but not draw it at time.

About the only real differance in my design and the one here is I had canopy and the nose piece. So kind of cheated using a rendering someone sent me. Oh yes when I draw them the wheels look like crap.

I have a poster board size one here with side and top views that i want to get copied so I can do some color scheme layouts on.

Always been Blue vehicle type. Two blue harleys, blue z/28.Starr Rider was blue, panel truck is blue and grandfather always had blue lights at christmas(3000+) so we are a blue family.Since god made the sky blue and the water I figure Im in  good company.

Had painter try to use grenn on Funnycar once.Dad told him if he did he was risky life because i would be hunting him down.

Ok Glenn amd I now in trouble for anti green thing.Hey no cussing in it.Ha Ha Ha ha

Heck we helped make Bristol little more famous with the crash in 91 with the car riding the left hand wall.Only cost us about 20 grand.Seems everyone loved the picture, well me and dad where not real fan of that shot. Was more fun them but had more money than also, funny how those go hand and hand.

Been away from real racing since 1999 when i sold my alky dragster. Helped few since and lil brother doing some bracket stuff.

Trying to live up to reputation our funny had for sharp looks and good performance.Going with same color scheme here also and want to work the star into it.

Huszarail are by and chance kin to a guy named Tom Acres who rund wizzard warehouse? Sorry green not my color and that much just reminds me of the old Wizzard(lizzard) TA/FC he ran back in 90's.

Not sure they will allow me to describe the trials part.I can be very virbal when things go wrong.Guess I could act like government and sensor myself. Working on nose peice right now.Deciding if going to cut a perfectly smooth finsh sanded and primed piece so I can add the  V in top of it. But dang it does look pretty cool. Plus it would help me standout from all the other FED that will be a most the local bracket races.I mean there maybe another one there sometime'

As for rear canards not big deal on weight just getting in and out of car as many times as you will have to during a bracket race with 6 or 7 rounds.Plus jumping out after winning I might forget and jum on them.

Hey guys,

Been trying to decide on piece for new car. here a seldom seen chance to give me your opion and me really care. Seriuosly look at pics  and let know your thoughts on these features.

First the nose piece if you can see the  V in middle. Kind of like it would lokk fast even if we all know it have no effect.

The chute body Im doing, the wing although it probably cost me hundredth or 2 looks B A( there no bad word).

Rear canard look cool but just be in the way and dead weight for bracket car

Deflector in front of  motor I like also. trying to figure how to build into sheetmetal w/o welding it on.

 what you think?

I'm going with 16 volt battery for this reason. I have been told by lots of folks it will spin considerably faster. Now if you had to add weight 2 battery would spin the crap out of it but thats about 75 lbs total so probably not good thing.

We ran NGK 9 plugs in funny. Im pretty sure but its been good while.

First I do not see where it would not work fine in that combo.  Seriously i think either style would work fine I just like magneto myself. I also happen to have 2 mag 12s that ran great on blown alky motor making 44 lbs boost. Bob Newberry once talked with me and Barry Patton about the larger mags and said he could not find any advantage to the bigger ones on alky. I guess someone did since most all top alcohol(blower) cars are running mag 44 now days and of coarse the A/Fuel cars are running two of them.
Only draw back to mag IMO is most the time they are happier firing a motor that is spinning pretty good, they can be unhappy with slow spinning motor.
