No pics of cage before correcting it.Will not show how stupid it looked and was only 3/16 at most out on one tube.

I finally figured what looked f---ed up with roll cage. Left side the second tube is about 1/8 to 3/16 to long at top where it meets rear bar. Might not sound like much but it had it sticking 3 feet(or so it looked) out of line.
So I spent 3 hours getting it cut loose and die grinding and filing it to fit like it should. Now If I can get my 12D foot out of butt from kicking it so many times. I would have sworn I cut them to match exactly. GUESS NOT. But now it is right or dang site closer.

next time I will have better veiw of cage when mounting one and I WILL TRIPPLE check the dumbing cutting tubes.

Been thinking on setting it up so that the top where it covers the roll cage has two air vents .Then running the  rods that go from front of strut to the chassis thru them,if not for brain fart I would know the name of it.

Next trick will be getting the main strut thru lower section of body. Maybe above lower wheelie bar mounts.Im not crazy about fastening to top of cage. Trying to look at safety also in case of. Maybe after body work is mounted I will get some brain storm for mounting it.

Yea the traditionalist are going to hate me. Oh well. To me racing is look like buildimg custom Harley do what you like. Just have few rules with racecar and non with Harley. Some will think awsome some will think POS. Plus theme is NEWSTALGIA. 4 bolts and no wing.

Getting the drawing board out right after coffee.

SO Van are you trying to talk me out of wing or into it?   Going against the grain(except in my wood projects) as pretty much always been my way. 8)

Front Engine Dragsters / specs for wing on FED
« on: July 11, 2013, 03:20:02 PM »
Anyone know of spec for wing on FED. I looked thru heritage series rules on NHRA site found nothing, does not mean I did not overlook it. Heck happens all the time with me. I know what I want.Cheaper air foil tubing would be great.Man 14 bucks a foot was what i use to pay though that was high.Found 2 site in mid 20's price wise.Thats about 140 per side.

Want to build it mounted lower on chassis and leaned back some with very low attack angle. I did mock up with cheap tubing and it lokks bada-- IMO and since its my car that  overrides all others. If going to build I would rather make it legal if possible.

I used some channel I had bent up from piece of scrap 1/8 steel I picked up and salvage yard.If I had it to do ove I would have just bought 2 piece of 6" I beam and mafe a permant jig.I am very limited on space so I made it so I could tear it down easy enough.

George,

First I'm not trying to be smart butt.It looks like you have both msd6 and mag.Why not just do some back to back test runs. Heck if you did 330' shots you would probably see if there was differance or not.If it was me thats what I would do. Im running mag 12's or will be for 2 reason two sitting on shelf and I like mag better.

I think at 200 its required in top dragster. So IMO it would mot be bad idea to have wing on the car if it can get close to that. Im adding one on my new fed for two reason stablity and I like the look.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Rear Diff, Posi/open/spool?
« on: July 08, 2013, 03:28:58 PM »
Reason it had open spool someone did not know  that dragsters need a spool. Nothing to break, lighter and 100% equal power to tires. No reason to run anything else.

Roo Man's Room / Re: ground effects what counts
« on: July 07, 2013, 07:03:37 PM »
Ground effects include but are not limited to
rocker skirts, belly pans, sheet-metal work under the body that produces a “tunnel” for
the passage of air, etc. Maximum overhang limit 40 inches.
A copy of rule  the 40 inch overhang changes from class to class 30" some and 2 allow 40 inch.

Hope your right.  I have been saying about same thing, just want to make sure Im not reasoning it out to fit my needs or wants in this case.

1694
I couldn't go all of the way up to body like pic because of frame work,Not sure about depth looks little deep for tru areodynamic effect. Like that was real reason I orked 4 nights. I also made mold of i9t before cutting notch out just in case.

1695
The almost finished nose piece or plug for it.Got mold to go then final products(2 of them) to go more pics in build section.

By the way wife said it reminds her of the show EVRYBODY LOVES RAYMON where his mom made statue and everybody thought it was part of feamle body.I told her my thought too and had entertained idea of asking her to pose for it.DID NOT GO OVER GOOD!
