Finally got back to making nose piece.

Little trimming when get body done. Have aluminum for body.If can get the spindles mounted then body can be done.Plus thinking about moving the rearend back another 2" to get to the engine at 52" out.All I have to do is make to new plated and weld to rearend while keeping it aligned with crankshaft.

I might be giving you a call TED I have guy I built a set for who tried out the training wheel thing. I have to rebuild half a set for him now.

Bye chance can you bend aluminum tubing 120* 2  1/2 would be my first choice but 2 1/4 might work too.

IMO and that maybe worth 2 cent on good day.  Buying a non cert car is bad investment, then racing usually is anyway. Harder to sale later and as said not as safe. As for making 40 w/o killingself.I made 47 same way and doing as much dangerous over the line crap as anyone.I contribute a lot of that being to taking educated chances. Ive been 5.7 at 249 in alky car way back in mid 90's. I would make a pass in non cert car, because to me the very slight cost differance is not worth it.  Just my opion, but then I hat seat belt and helmet laws.

few pics of slipjoint options. I have few. Whole top tube can slip in 2 locations. 1 in front of motor can be seen above pics.1 4' behind fron axle. Another is one I was told is pretty much same as Neil and Parks do thier where its in the uprights. Any or all can be bolted down to limit movement.

results, but going to extreme with both top joints slipped and nose not moved yet.

Looks like I got my FED a new money source. Have local streetrod shop wanting me to work for them fabricating, welding and machining. Also want be to do boddywork and willing to teach(good thing).Plus they have need for cabinet builder and use of my GC license. So seems to be good fit. They are waiting for a big business deal to fan out before making offer. I am waiting for offer and hoping they can work with me on few things I need to be able to do to help father keep little extra income while also giving them the time they need. Hopefully me working shorter week everynow and then while doing more hours per day at that time will work for all.

I know the fed will be getting lot closer to the track with some extra cash flow. Wife seems like she will not be mad either.

Bill,

Little late but did you ask around on SWJF they have cpl guys that went in and bought enogh tires from goddtear that they made a run just for them. I think someone had cpl sets for sale a while back.

Bill,

Whyich tire did you get?  Going to go Hoosiers(some time) also.Probably going with  14x15 32s. Wouldn't want car walking around bunch on top end might lead to folks thinking I'm nuts. What can I say tuning TA/FC on IHRA tracks  too long , I figure if its going straight its broke. Just listening to my elders. ;D

Mild steel is legal to certain et. IMO I would go CM for cpl reasons.Weight as already stated and Im sure its more than 40 lbs.Since mild steel is normally twice as thick as CM it just tands to reason it will weigh twice as much. Resale is another reason, even if you think you will never care about saling it crap happens. Number one is Im riding in it and that means its going to be CM.
Yes it cost more I know Ive been buying it few pieces at a time for past 2 years.

As Frank Parks says steel is for farm equipment and Chrome moly is for racecars.

Spent most the day machining on a valve to switch fuel flow when I go from NA to nitrous. Seems to work and should be bada-- when done.Like most projects the first has given me idea how to make next one better.

Basicaly It will swap from two jet bypass to one bypass and the other jet goes to feed nitrous.I will only need nitrous solenoid it will then activate the fuel side at same time. Only trick will be setting the jetting so the one Im swapping will have same flow as nitrous system
