Drag Racing / keeping batt charged in trailer
« on: December 29, 2014, 09:17:18 AM »
what are you doing to keep your batt in car trailer charged up;;I have one batt I use for wrench that I have to raise and lower my ramp door;;;2nd batt is used to operate wrench to pull car in and out of trailer;;also operates my hyd jack that raises trailer to hook and unhook trailer from truck and used to start generator;;][ohman 4000 gen set]seems like every time I turn around I need to drag battery charger into trailer and charge batterys;;was thinking mounting 2 solor panels on top of trailer and hook up to batterys permety to charge batterys and maintain them so girlfriend got my 2 Schumacher SP-400'S;;IN INSTALL BOOK SAYS THAT ONLY MAINTAIN BATTERY AND WON'T CHARGE THEM AND CAN'T BE MOUNTED OUTSIDE[not water proof]
 So what are everyone doing to solve this batt dead issue?is there a affordable solor panel that I can mount on top of trailer permently and leave hooked to batt 24-7 that will keep batt at full charge and recharge them back to full charge after I use them and they start getting weak?

I have good set lite JE domes they are for 4.005 so if you have a std block that you can hone .005 then...they are 1.115 CH so a 6 in or 6.125 rod depending on deck height
with pins--$225 shipped  I just don't have a block and all my stuff is regular 350 so I just don't need them Thanks  David 704 244 6649   jdk@ctc.net

Altereds / roll cage issue
« on: November 30, 2014, 06:43:17 PM »
trying to figure out what to do with my rear helmet bars;;when my chassis builder[welder]put the new cage on he leaned the 2 rear bars back instead ot straight up like most is done..when I took it out for it's shake down pass ..it thow my head back against bar so I couldn't see front of car and had to let off throttle;;when i'm sitting in car with no padding on cage and helmet on there is 4 1/2" between helmet and cage;;trying to figure out how maybe to build maybe a headrest to take up this space that won't look so gaddy[like xxxx]haven't found any pics of any altered that has a headrest to get ideal from;;I didn't have chine strap on helmet or any type neck support or hans device at that test hit but I did put chinstrap on helmet;;;;;with a chinstrap on helmet and a hans device or a simple neck color will that solve my issue with the cage gap?what i'm asking is should my head be against the cage before I take off or does the chinstrap and neck support is enough to keep head from snapping back against cage?should your helmet be against cage[padding or should there be some space between helmet and back bars;;I have ISP side pieces now but need to send in to get made thicker;;thinking they said I should have 3/4" or something like that from side pieces and side of helmet;;i'm 2 3/4" now and ISP said that was to much;;sides are no brainer on what to do there;;just the rear is the big issue I need to solve;;way is now can't drive car or stay on throttle;;need advice

Harley, the HANS will address that situation and it's probably a good idea to have one anyway. I've never needed a chin strap, the HANS by itself worked for me in both A/F and with the AA/FA. From what I have been told if your head is getting back against the cage it can actually rattle your vision, but I can't speak from experience on that.

so what you saying is don't want my head[helmet]rest against the roll bar[or padding]then?maybe I should put this in the tech part of this fourm;;
