Front Engine Dragsters / Rear Tire selection
« on: April 09, 2015, 04:21:34 PM »
I am running a 180", 1300#, 360CI small block on alcohol. Rear gear is 4.57, Glide, Engine dynos @ 540HP. I want to run a 31" Good Year tire but all I can find is a 12" wide tire. Right now i am running  a 10.5 wide tire.

I have to buy a set of rims so I have a spare set of tires but I wanted to find out from you folks if you thought a 12" was too much meat.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Front Engine Dragsters / Front End Caster on a FED
« on: August 15, 2014, 09:52:36 AM »
I have been trying to find out what a good starting point for caster angle for a 180" FED. SBC, injected alcohol, Projected mid 8's 155 MPH.
I was told that a good rule of thumb was, 1degree of caster per 10 MPH of top end speed and I just wanted to back up that information. I have seen so many front ends at wide varying degrees of caster and cannot seem to find a consistent consensus.

I plan to dyno the engine next week, the roller is all done so I should be running mid to late September.

Front Engine Dragsters / Battery Placement on a FED
« on: February 21, 2014, 05:03:53 AM »
I have read the NHRA rules on battery placement however I still cannot determine if I can put the battery behind the seat  in a metal box. I have a chute pack body on a FED. The rules say if the battery is moved to the rear, you must build a firewall or a sealed box. Can anyone clarify this for me? I am using a sealed AGM small format battery.

Thank you,
Cody
