Title: Hole size ?

Howdy all. I have just sold my Weld Pro Star wheels and noticed they had a reasonably big hole in  the rim for the tube teat to go through. The tubes I have have a metal bit where the valves go which will fit through a 1/2" hole but where that joins the tube the tube has a raised section that needs to sit in the hole as well. The Welds had maybe a 5/8" hole. I need to run tubes because I'm going to an alloy slot type wheel that has a reputation of being porous. What size holes do I need. Or can I run big 4wd tubes with a conventional rubber teat?

I can't help you about the tubes but what I would do is. Paint the inside of the rim to seal up any porosity, coat the inside of the tire thinly with dish soap, keep the car on stands between events.

I agree with Bruce, need photos, but I think the big tube hole is for a tubeless valve stem, not a tube

It's okay I just ordered some tubes with a regular size rubber valve teats to avoid butchering the wheels. These wheels were made in my home town from the mid 1970's until maybe 1985. This is the 4th set I've had in 30 plus years but they are hard to find now - this pair took 5 years! These have had a tyre fitted but have never been used. Old and Heavy, you bet ya, but I love 'em

What kind of lug nuts are used with those counterbored holes?
