I have a 200" fed, 6.0 cert moly car, plan on running 7.60's or better. Want to build wheelie bars, have a few questions and would like any pictures possible. It is a three bar single wheel deal on there now but is bent badly. Would like to know what size and thickness for the bars. It is roughly 6' long on the top bars and 6 1/2' on the bottom bar. The bottom bar mounts just under the back of the seat on the bottom of the car as it sits now, top bars on rear of car. What does everyone use for height adjustment? Need all new parts and where to buy like adjuster and wheel with brackets? Finally going full steam ahead on putting car together after life getting in the way for too long. Thanks Greg.

For the wheel end I use a package that I get from McKinney which has the same components as used on a lot of the big show fuel cars. It has a tool less quick adjustment deal. On my bars I use 1.25" uppers and 1"-1.125" lower tubes with a quick pin to allow the wheel to be raised quickly for towing. I tie the upper bars together with a cross tube which is welded to sleeves retained with stop rings--that way there are no welds (other than the tacks on the stop rings) apart from those on each end of the main tubes. At the attachment points to the frame I use cut down bolts with a clevis pin rather than nuts so that the bar can be removed without tools at the end of the day.

Roo, out of curiosity do you build a shorter bar for cars with clutches. I am noticing quite a few of the clutch cars run pretty short bars compared to what I have seen with automatics

None of my recent customers have had clutch cars apart from the dragster that I am getting ready to ship to New Zealand and it has my standard package. I am also building a fuel altered that has a clutch but I am planning to put the same bar on it as I normally use.

Does it do the job? If so I can't see a reason to change it.

Yes it works but some people watching my car tell me it flexes a ton and may cause problems later.
