Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Anybody know Casey Grisel A/Fuel?
« on: May 22, 2013, 08:15:05 AM »
Known him since he was about 10.

Those are front tires off of big show fuel cars.  I'm not a fan of them, but more and more cars are showing up with them.

I believe Donnie Allen built the car, here in Sacramento.  Not sure where it is now.  Grisel may still have it.

He is in a Lucas Oil series A/F car now.

Good kid.  Kicked butt in NHRA Nostalgia A/F for a while, then moved up.  He's worked with Jerry Darien for a few years.

Very nice, how about scanning the whole article and posting it?

I have a couple ideas.
1. was crap in the system that was missed. I don't really believe this, as there was nothing in the bearing or the pan.
2. detonation from being on the limiter too long.  The fuel tune up was well within the window of safe, and the plugs showed ok.

this combo has been together for four years and has never touched a bearing, even with 26#s of boost and running 7.teens.

I fattened it up to rule out lean, and upped the limiter so it never touched it sunday.  I really hope the bearings look ok. :(

There is an injected Chevy 6 in a FED that runs NE/2 (8.60s).  Last saw him at an ANRA race @ the Patch.

There is one i see around with TWO L6's in it.  Chevy's i think.

I too LOVE to have people sit in the car.  I remember growing up HOPING to get a chance to sit in 'a racecar'.

BTW, the crew guy in the black shirt is my 15 year old son Austin. This is his first go around as my crew guy.  He handled everything from doing the final prep to get ready, strapping me in, firing the car, and backing me up.  I couldn't be more proud of my son.  I realized a dream Sunday. Racing with my son.

Tune up was WAY fat & lazy, but i'm hunting down why it's hurting mains.  Hurting parts isn't my style. I have to drop the pan after this hit and see if it's fixed.

Spud Miller's Cave / ETC Limiter with tach output on my Mallory.
« on: May 20, 2013, 02:44:02 PM »
After a test session yesterday, i'm very happy with my ETC rev limiter.  I purchased the single stage rev limiter WITH the tach output wire option. I hooked up a MSD shift light (msd shift light 89631).  The rev limiter picks up about 10% early (ABOUT 7200rpm when set for 8000rpm, spud believes this is ignition noise, but it repeats so who cares).  The shift light works perfect, and this MSD light also has a tach display on it for working in the pits (not visible from my seat).

Finally, some decent shiftlight/rev limiter options for mag equiped cars.

I actually looked at my oil pressure gauge once yesterday ( going thru the lights ).  Most of the time, it's Stab & Steer.  Shift lights are wonderful things.

It is a sharp looking hotrod.  I have a friend with a 150" altered.  Definitely a different beast.

Suspended front & rear, i suspect it's an altered.  Looks like the pilot sits in front of the rear end like a funny car/alturd

Roo Man's Room / Re: Roo Man Nostalgia T/Fuel question?
« on: May 15, 2013, 09:15:08 AM »
I'm not Rooman but i'll try and help.

Why do these engines have so much cackel to them seems like the modern fuel motor idles more tame or am I hearing it wrong! Love it when they burnout then it comes back to idle
--Modern fuel motors have so much fuel volume that the cackle gets lost i believe.  I miss it. Just another reason NTF is where it's at!

Also what width wheel do they use i know the tire is a 12in. spec for the class but looks like maybe a 10 in. wheel
--They run a 12" wheel also.  Some teams take advantage of the 13" tire (both are legal)

Also A/Fuel does the injected cars run nitro and blower alky??
--A/F has injected nitro or Blown alky.  both sound awesome, and both haul butt, however it is a never ending battle to level the playing grounds.

I run the smallest odyssey battery (pc310) in my car for the transbrake, shifter, shift light.  I start off of a battery pack i plug in.
