Title: New front half
Post by: Paul New on October 01, 2015, 05:42:41 AM
Going to be cutting the front half off of the car soon as after last weekend it is a little bent up. I know I will be needing to have a custom front axle bent as my old front axle was a narrowed MW that I made into a 2-piece and I want a one piece axle. The axle is not the reason the crash happened but I didn't like the way it performed it flexed at the spice point. Just looking for ideas on uprights and diagonal supports to keep the frame from flexing. (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/01/00a65eceb11f690f982a15f0333bc88e.jpg)

I went for a drive today to Boise and was able to check out a really nice car
I was told Roo built this one

Here is a Parks car that has the diagonal going the opposite direction that looks like a slip joint? I saw this one at our June race

Paul,
yep, Kenny's is one of mine. Originally built for Jimmy Gravitt out of Illinois some time ago. My newer cars have the rails sleeved at the uprights and generally the motor is a little further out.
The N & P car is also a little older as it is their earlier high seat design.

I do like the clean look of your chassis very sanitary! I am going to start cutting my front half off soon, going to maintain my 200" WB and engine position out 42"

Looks good, I am currently rebuilding the front half of my car also, and funny enough my dad and brother (brother also the driver) were here to help this weekend.  I love em, but I get more done by myself.

Gentlemen you are so blessed to have family involvement. My Dad and 4 brothers have noticed very little of my drag racing projects over the years (40+). George

My engine bay is a little different than most as my car is a little narrow with the drysump pump mounted low so this is what I ended up doing.(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160125/8dc26d8006283124497c740f0a4f06d2.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160125/973643d9d311ac255802bd0f7f533e9f.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160125/a21bda929b91cdd72a6f3de0904b02ff.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160125/8b105ee368728e777d6486fefea6d447.jpg)

Hello Paul:
Did you purchase the front axle or make it?
I'm looking for one that's less than 39" that's on my FED.
Thanks: Matt

Well I contacted the Chassis Shop for a front axle.
They are not in production at this time and none in the near future.
Mark Williams and S&W race cars only sell wide ones.
I really like the look of the narrow front end but am wondering who to call now.
If anybody knows who to call let me know.
My needs are pretty common. 6" drop with SPE spindles.

Matt – one more suggestion, here’s internet links to new 4130 CM 0.120 wall, 1.50” outside dia. axles, 36” or 39” wide, 6” drop with SPE bosses, priced at $178.99. Years ago for my dragster, I selected a MW Enterprises, Inc. axle and it was top quality.  No experience with Pro-Werks front axle but I have bought from Pro-Werks before and was pleased with item.  Alan
