At 10% over, it sounds like a giant killer. Swapped the pulleys to 10% under, re-fired and it still sounds good.

I keep pressing f5 and I still don't see a video . . . what gives?  ;D

One is to put the pictures up on a web posting site and provide a lint to it here.

FWIW, most upload sites have an option to scale your images when you upload them as well.

I know imageshack does . . .

I went the "expensive" route but jegs had the flanges on sale for $20, does that count?  ;D

If you buy a roller with a current chassis certification, it will be a pretty good challenge to get an engine, tranny, plumb it, wire it, hook up all the controls and safety stuff, truck, trailer and learn how to operate & drive it. That should occupy you for a year or two. Then if you decide to build one from scratch ... you will probably know enough to do a better job. Good people in this sport. They
will help you with any direction you decide to go.         Just my $.02.

If you don't have much experience than this is definitely the way to go.  Much easier than building a car from scratch . . .

I've been around race cars for a number of years in almost every type of racing and even did the clutch in two nitro funny cars and was still unprepared for everything with the dragster starting from a pile of tubing on the floor.  There's a lot of little stuff that you can skip over if you buy a frame already done or a complete FED ready to go and really if you don't have the time or shop availability to do it then you are better off.

If I knew anything about making them work I would have bought one.  Ended up with a shorty powerglide instead  :(

Cam is supposed to make peak at 7200.

Antron Brown has switched machines

How did you swing that?  :D

I guess not too many . . . I'm building a 137" with a 355sbc, 6-71 on alcohol.

Hope to make 700-800hp.  See how that goes.

If you use alot of nitro, or if you don't use any at all, don't read this : )
I plan on trying some nitro this year and checked with our local supplier and they only sells it in drums.  I don't need a whole drum nor do I want 55 gallons sitting around in my garage.  I checked around and found some.  Got it smoothly, now I'm a happy camper.  Here's current link:

(ebay #2008 6701 4356)  or click on link.........

p.s.  I ran this by Glenn first, since it's an ad.  Glenn said it was okay to post, I wasn't sure, so better to ask first.  Okay, I can check nitromethane off my to do list.

Excellent!  Thanks for the heads up . . . I would love to hit some cackle events this year and was worried about buying a 55gal drum considering I won't ever make a pass on the stuff

hmm . . . do you think 304 is up to the task or should I just spend the $30 or whatever for 4130?  Not really sure what the threshold is for the compression strength required for this deal.

Roo Man's Room / radius rods/steering arm dimensions
« on: February 11, 2013, 12:38:48 PM »
Roo,

What are the usual size and wall thickness for the radius rods on a standard torsion bar setup?  Seen 3/4 x .065" in a couple of different places.  Also what is the standard size/thickness from the pitman arm coming off the output shaft from the box to the spindle?

I've got a couple of freebie drops from a friend of mine and was wondering if I could use them BUT they are 304 stainless.  The sizes I got for free are 7/8 x .049" (radius rods?) and 1" x .049" (steering arm?)

I know 304 is probably 70-75% the strength of 4130 but didn't know if you or anyone had used them without a problem.
