Thanks Old School. I'm getting excited just over a month away from my first run and my friends are calling me crazy, going to step into a front engine dragster for the first time at the age of 56. Can't wait, wanted to do this since I was 16.

I just painted my car onthe weekend, just need to stripe it and done, ready or racing in may.

I just finished my aluminum body, going to have a guy come over to see about doing a wrap for the first year. Made my own roller brake to do the bends it didn't turn out to bad.

I just received my wheelie bar kit from Dragster Supply and David Beard Race Cars. Nice kit and nice smooth transaction for shipping. Sometimes things get complicated for shipping here to the Great White North but Dave got it all worked out and it arrived with out me having to pay anything extra to FedEx as it often happens here in Canada, Our great government has a habit of creating these unknown taxes even with all our free trade agreements.

Thanks, I made the tank myself. Breathers are Speedway .Hand rolled the tank from one eight aluminum after annealing, had my buddy Craig weld it up . 1.4 gallon cap. with two internal baffles with a an6 drain on the bottom. I searched everywhere and couldn't find one.

Yes I am using a short windshield it will only be 4 inches tall. I fit with no problem as long as I stay off the chocolates during the holidays.

I finished most of my body work other than the windshield, put the mockup wheels on it and rolled it outside and started it.

Roo Man's Room / Re: To build or buy built

I have first hand experience on building a S and w kit from the beginning and was surprised how long and cost and time consuming it actually is taking. I'm presently mounting the body,  but my kit arrived last November and i thought it would be rolling by last new years but  it has taken me a full year to get to wear I am. The frame kit was good and even though this is my first dragster build I have built a couple of show winning hot rods and I was amazed at how much stuff there was to do, as Rooman said. Brackets , tabs and making everything work is fairly time consuming and costly. I spend a fair amount of time on it every day and quite a bit of money on all the little stuff and was just looking at my bill yesterday  for my dzuz fasteners and associated hardware and that alone and cost me 250 bucks. If i did it again I would probably buy, but it is also pretty nice when you can say you built your own. But in the end I fired it up in less than a year and ready to run for this spring.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Motivation - keeping the fire alight

It  just snowed here today, 6 inches of fresh snow. So to keep me motivated I called up my buddy Craig who is building another S and W FED and opened the garage door and fired up my dragster for the  first time, burnt 2 1/2 gallons of methanol just listening to it.

I got a couple of quotes up here. Oil rich Alberta's cheapest price was 350 greenbacks .  I was hoping to find something more reasonable.

I'm getting close all wiring done, waiting for my trans to come back from the builder and I'm ready to fire. Next starting on the body. Took me a lot longer than I thought. Just a bout a whole year passed by.
