Heims seem to be the way to go, just in case I do need the added adjustments.

Dave.
I bought a 5' kit from Dragster Supply and it came with Clevis' for the top mounts.
I didn't know if there were any other advantages to using a Heim beside the ability to adjust the bars from side to side ?
If you have the bars set dead center from the beginning is it really necessary to have that side to side adjustment ?
I will also be using the push pins.
Would the bars be easier to install and remove with a Heim ?
I just want to do it right the first time.    Thanks

Front Engine Dragsters / Wheelie bar mount questions.
« on: December 20, 2016, 12:57:17 PM »
I am in the process of building a 5' (three bar) wheelie bar.
(1) Are you guys using Heim's or Clevis' for the top mounts ?

(2) How is the best way to find the dead center of my frame, 5' back on the floor?

Measure straight off of the face of each disk, then split the difference ?
Find the middle of the motor plate, then use a square and a string ?
I appreciate all feedback.

Once again I come to this forum for wisdom.
What are you guys using to support your digger chassis while hauling to the strip.
I have seen those inflatable rubber supports but they are rather pricey.
Not trying to be cheap, just looking for some alternative methods. Pictures would be great.
I appreciate all responses.

Check out Rocket Wheels. I believe that they may apply their Dow 7 coating to your wheels.

Appreciate your feed back PSweeney. Decided to use a pan that I already have and I am also in the process of cutting it for ground clearance.

Thanks MikenMpls for the lead.
Bruce I am not promoting them. My son just found them on the internet. I was just sharing the information from their site. I try to buy American whenever I can. With them being in business for 30 years (if its true) kind of lets me know that it is not some guy working in his dirt floor garage with his brother in law Vinny making oil pans. I to have experienced some (copied) pans and could never get them to seal right. I never heard of them before and was wondering if anyone had and if they were a quality product. That's it. No hidden agenda here.

Anyone out there ever run a Champ Oil Pan? They are made in America and have been in business for over thirty years.

I am using a Precision Shifter. Can be totally operated with just one hand and is only 3/4" wide.

Don't mean to high jack this thread but I am in the process of doing this to my build and have a question. I have the male and female couplers installed and inserted an aluminum spacer to allow for 3/16" play.
With everything installed should I be able to move the male couple back and forth easily? When I slide it, there seems to be more of a drag on it than just the tension of the tranny seal. I may just need to fine tune the alignment.
