Billy is what you would call a little anal ! Did you notice even the decals on the motors have to be exactly the same . We have a lot of fun with him moving his tools around and turning the labels around on his brake clean cans . Both of those motors are 321 cubes the one on the left makes 2.82 hp per cube The one on the right has not been dynoed yet . We think it will be around 2.88 or 2.9 . I really enjoy working with Billy . I get to keep up on all the new technology in comp and deal with some of the best in the buisness.

Would it be a close guess at $50,000.00 per engine?

Billy dose a lot of the work himself so I would have to say right around 35 thou is close . A good set of head's from Slawco or CFE are around 15 k now throw in a manifold for another 4 and you are getting up there! Comp is still my favorite class and I would run it if i could afford to.

We made the drive to Bunker Hill dragway in Indiana Friday. Its Indianas first drag strip opening in 1956, and also the 1st track my 2 dads made their 1st passes at an actual track. It was 1/4 mile until the early 80's but was considered  too short for anything fast with a short shut down. Ive always wanted to take my car there for sentimental sake but its just out of the way and I really have a hard time justifying it when Indianapolis is way closer.

Its a very narrow track with a slim grove, about 1/2 the size of Indy. I decided as I was walking the track with my 2nd dad checking the track condition, and after seeing the look on his face reliving that old track as we walked it. It was probably the best track I could have ran that day, he opened up into a few new stories I had not heard yet, he said the last pass he made there was in 1977  in his funny car. They would not let him run the 1/4 because the car was too fast to get stopped before the corn field, so he cracked off a 4.60 in the 1/8th that day back in 1977.

The track was sticky and very well prepped, my car is slow, ran a 5.90 @ 118 foot breaking the car, but it was a good day for us all. Video below, shaky at first until she sets the camera down.

Kind of cool happening yesterday.  Nitro Jeff, Dr Van, Double A Bob and I were building the Paladin.  We were going to run a set of unpolished Super Tricks and Van says that he has a set of polished ones in his garage. We pulled them down and there are original shipping labels saying ship to Carroll Shelley Enterprises Gardena, CA.

Van, Double A Bob and I got the fuel tank mount fitted and the front motor mounts cut and mounted to the chassis and engine.  We also got the fire bottle mounts fabricated.

New rules if you are planning to put a wing on your racecar and run with NHRA

For all open wheel/body cars where rear wings are permitted the wing may be fully mounted to the roll cage or frame structure only via plates and/or short brackets; maximum 6-inches center-to-center between the upper (wing tab) and lower (roll cage tab) bolts. Tube type or extended wing stands are prohibited when mounting wings to any components of the driver’s compartment of any SFI specification roll cage."

I asked Roo about this to get more clarification.  I also sent it to NDRL race director Jason Becker as he is a Div 3 inspector and he will follow up. This could impact a ton of cars.
