A big thanks to Matt Robison at Merc9 speed for helping us out with a great deal on a couple of aluminum blocks. And a special thanks to the guy who set us up with the deal.
We appreciate it a lot.

Long day of finishing up some changes, test fired the motor and packed up to make a couple of test passes at the Patch first thing in the morning. Should be North bound on the 5 by 4 am.

Van, Bob, and Nitro Jim thrashed for 3 days to get is ready for the last test of the year, I can't thank them enough for their hard work.

I spent the afternoon with a red Scotch Bright pad and WD40 scrubbing the chassis and fine tuning the tin work.  Nothing like an afternoon with old Diamond P VHS tapes playing in the garage.

not much going on with the "DARK SIDE" fuel altered;;drained and cleaned out all fuel lines and backed off the valves for the winter;;trying to figure out what to do with my rear helmet bars;;when my chassis builder[welder]put the new cage on he leaned the 2 rear bars back instead ot straight up like most is done..when I took it out for it's shake down pass ..it thow my head back against bar so I couldn't see front of car and had to let off throttle;;when i'm sitting in car with no padding on cage and helmet on there is 4 1/2" between helmet and cage;;trying to figure out how maybe to build maybe a headrest to take up this space that won't look so gaddy[like xxxx]haven't found any pics of any altered that has a headrest to get ideal from;;I didn't have chine strap on helmet or any type neck support or hans device at that test hit but I did put chinstrap on helmet;;;;;with a chinstrap on helmet and a hans device or a simple neck color solve my issue with the cage gap?what i'm asking is should my head be against the cage before I take off or does the chinstrap and neck support is enough to keep head from snapping back against cage

You can order pads from ISP in almost and depth. Maybe have a deep pad built to help.

Any idea of what you're going to do about a paint job?

To add my .02¢ worth, last week, I took my altered out and am half way thru my licensing, this weekend, I'm repairing the crack in the body I got during my blindfold test, stepped in the wrong spot 'cause I couldn't see, fixing a few stress cracks and also getting the body ready for paint.

That sucks, but at least fiberglass is fairly easy to fix.

Harley, the HANS will address that situation and it's probably a good idea to have one anyway. I've never needed a chin strap, the HANS by itself worked for me in both A/F and with the AA/FA. From what I have been told if your head is getting back against the cage it can actually rattle your vision, but I can't speak from experience on that.
