Alley Oop II

(1/2) > >>

1Bad67:
In the late 50's my brother ran a Model A called the Alley Oop. I have wanted a front engine rail for as long as I can remember.  After 10+ years of gathering parts I think I have enough to actually start building one. I have an 8-3/4 Chrysler rearend with a 742 pumpkin, an SPE steering box, powerglide shorty tranny, and rear wheels and tires. I just received my order from Neil & Parks with a Wilwood brake kit, and Chromolly bends for the shoulder hoop and roll cage.

JEFF/21C:
your brother's car looks neat, but it sounds like yours is going to be a fed. what are you planning for a power plant?

1Bad67:
Yea, I want a rail. I am going for a mid 60's short body look. About 150" wheelbase.

I have a couple engines I want to run in it. First will be a 4 cylinder Pontiac (the old half a 389) from 1963. The second motor I would like to run is a Studebaker V8 similar to the one my brother ran.

The idea is to stay under 300hp, and keep it in the 10's. as long as I can.

JEFF/21C:
good for you, I was always intrigued by pontiac 4, have never seen one in person. looking forward to seeing your progress.

1Bad67:
1st Mock Up done. Looks like it will be 32" out.
