Floater Rear end

(1/1)

Paul New:
When did they get rid of the 6.50 or 210mph rule that required a floater rear end?  I remember when they changed from blown 7.50 or quicker to the 6.50 number

dreracecar:
I noticed the wording change a couple years ago  ,   been running flange style axles on my 7.0 car since '95 because I read the rule as "or live axle assembly" and didn't say it had to be a single piece axle.  2 axles connected to a spool where one axle cannot turn independently from the other is a live axle in my book . now if they said "No flange axles" then I would have to go with a floater assy.

Paul New:
The tracks I go to read this rule as a floater rear end rule.  In 95 though it was 7.50 and quicker running live axle.  I would assume you were running NE1 back than though

dreracecar:
Flanged axles on the car today running 7.0.  NHRA Pro Stock still runs flanged axles  heavier car-wider tires-5 speed

Paul New:
I saw a picture this week of what looked like a Pro Mod that broke an axle and the wheel came off so yea I now see they are not requiring a floater rear on these quick cars ::)
