Bead seats
« on: February 20, 2019, 02:29:03 AM »
Hey all. I just fitted a pair of Hoosier slicks to some Weld Pro stars. I can't get one of the beads to seat properly on one inner side of the wheel. They have a small safety bead. I have gone to 30 psi. I had M/T on these rims previously with no dramas. The Hoosiers were on Weld draglites which don't appear to have any safety beads and had bead screws.

A couple of tricks we use, is put the tire in the sun [ if it's not snowiing] to heat it up, trim excess rubber from the mold , and use brake clean to help lub the tire that will dry and not be like WD40.
Also with rear slicks you can up the pressure alot more the 30 lbs as long as you are not using an inner tube

I hope this helps, the hardest to fully mount of wire spoke wheels are Hoosiers, but we can get it done
