two step with mag
« on: October 01, 2017, 04:57:53 AM »
I have my car setup with MSD 12.  Any reason 2 step and mag will not work well together? I also have sle on car and figure to have very limited time on 2 step, just enough to hit 6600 before TB releases.

It will work fine Chris. I'm using a 2 step and a MSD mag 20 on my deal. No issues

yes we also have a MSD 2 step, and a 20 amp MSD with no problems. I only had one problem with a launch chip that was loose, and I watch the high RPM chip to see if it is off the RPM I want. Some times we have just pulled the high RPM chip out if we think it might be causing it to miss below the what the chip says. Art Chrisman suggested that, and it fixed in our car. Down side is we break a trans or way too much tire smoke and it goes over 10,500RPM. it's over 11k that my engine doesn't like.

Yep, we have been running a MSD 12LT with a 2-step for years. Also an rpm switch for the shifter.

Scott Parks made me a cool little EMI tight box that I put my 2 step in. Don't know if it helps wiyh the interference from the mag much but the lid of the box keeps a little positive pressure on the MSD chips helping to keep them plugged in. Also, for you guys that like to keep everything secret, the box prevents anyone from seeing what rpm you're launching at.
