line up bar ?
« on: January 09, 2016, 07:09:02 AM »
I bought a 2 1/2" OD drive line alignment bar thinking it would fit the main caps on my sbc.  It does not. What do I need to do? Thank you.

You have to machine some collars to fit the bar and the main saddles. split one side and then slide over bar, set block on collars and move into possision , with split at cap seperation line, and a small piece of tape on the bottom of the collar and then install main cap to lock collar in place.

These are universal line up bars , does not make sense to make them for all engines. but would be nice if they included drawings for the collars

That's what I figured, just a little annoyed that I asked them when ordering if I would need anything else to make it work.  Thank you.

for a SBC I took an old 283 block and had my dad open up the main line (Housing bore is 2.4906-2.4916 so it was pretty quick to do) to fit the bar works pretty slick. All the rest I have built machined bushings
