trans coolers
« on: December 27, 2015, 07:19:29 PM »
looking at trans coolers for car. With it being for brackets mostly and some tracks loving hot lapping I figure it may be handy to have one on car.Wondering what those who have one are using.Thinking about maching one,but not objectionable to something fairly cheap and efficent.

Relecting obama is like shooting right foot because it did not hurt enough when you shot left foot

Like with anything racing related, good and cheap don't go together. I run the B&M plate cooler with a fan. After working in factory were we made plate coolers and seeing how much more efficient they are it made the choice easy when we switched to racing cars. Choose a cooler that takes NPT fittings so you are not using hose clamps. Any cooler will help but the plate coolers are the most effective.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Unless you are running a "Million to Win" bracket race,  A good high temp fluid is all you will need for that 1 in 10 race that they will hot lap the final round because its getting close to curfew at the track. Use to run coolers but saw no difference in wear or performance, so to elimiate the chance of leakage, just went to a loop and saved the weight and hassle.

around here its every race gets hot laps and the million is on bucketlist. Plus we have two mini millions at Piedmont and thats less than 20 miles from the house,so will be running them every year. One guy swears by transynd fluid on DRR but then he swears by anything that he runs as the to be the to end all.
