dont know where you are at right now.  but its not just a matter of timing as much as the amount of amps the magneto makes. A friend was trying to run in a fuel altered class with a alu SBC, could not get him to change from a Vertex (1.7amps) to a MagIII (3.5amps) had to lean(not good) the fuel down to get it to run and burned the motor up. Because the amps were not there to fire the load/mixture required to keep the motor happy and make a decent pass (for his combo),it was something that a higher output mag would have done @ 3.5 amps
