What did you do on your Junior Dragster TODAY?

Goinbroke2:
Walked by it shaking my head knowing I have a ton of work to do before the season opens and even though the kid is "c'mon dad" I've been working 70+ hours a week and can't help it....work sucks....I'm actually writing this on the work computer, today being Sunday 12:15.....

So far though....I did change the tie rod ends and front left wheel bearings and re-installed the battery. The big job though is fabbing up a complete aluminum plate for the new (to me) polar clutch and 3/4 shaft/bearings/etc. Currently it's running an old style TAV-30 clutch which seriously sucks but it was enough to let the kid race for the last 4 years. just waiting 2 more years until he turns 16 and can drive a full size car which will be dirt cheap compared to these! LOL!

Anyway, people are starting to show up for my meeting, better get back at it....blah....

What did I do to it? Nothing! Sold it last spring and the kid is driving a focus until he gets a real race car built. (My idea actually, start him in sportsman/street class)

Paid $2000 for it and raced it 7 years then sold it for $1700. (Probably spent an easy $4000 in that time replacing engines lol)

My next door neighbor had a nice Junior his kid outgrew. He said "take it and use it with your grandkids". I said,"OK thanks", but gave him back the alcohol burning billet engine saying "I don't want to blow this thing up and have to buy you a new one".
I got an old B&S rototiller 5 hp engine, converted it over to J/D  use with a Honda carb and header pipe. It only runs 14s but the grandkids have a blast going out to the track with "Racing Grampa". It still has a recoil rope starter and I pull it with an old garden tractor I souped up. Quite the contrast between the golf cart driving, aircraft startered alcohol burning seven second Juniors around us, but fun nevertheless.

The way it was meant to be, until the mighty dollar got involved,  like all of drag racing.  Glad you guys are having fun and not spending your retirement fund racing.
